  1. #spoiler....i'm up early watching the women's rugby world cup final and what a match we've on for all rugby fans, we have lost one player through a red card so far which's not helping defending wideout against the opposition. Fingers crossed for the white team.!

  2. Its the next morning...and yes, its still making me laugh...

    Come on man, shape-up...........:upyeah:

  6. We certainly won't forget them and you for what you've all done and, in many cases, continue to do for all man and womankind who merit it.....

  7. I attended a sportsmans type dinner (well lunch) yesterday and was surprised to see the lack of poppies worn. I was only one of two on my table and would take a guess no more than 10% of the 500 plus in attendance.

  8. Maybe people are beginning to archive the event, soon to go the way of statues and war memorabilia found in museums?

  9. Maybe, but I wouldn't say it was an event per se, but yes, we see less poppy sellers, less self serve tins in shops etc.

Half a dozen of my mates didn't come back from the Gulf War and it wasn't that long ago.

    Sad really.

  10. I am of the generation who had grand fathers who fought in WW1 and fathers who fought in WW2. Those who died are not and will not be forgotten. Andy

  11. It's a real shame but I can understand younger generations not being aware of the sacrifices made by both service men & women in both world wars, unfortunately that's down to the education system, history in particular. When I was at school I was taught about the Tutors & the Industrial revolution etc, nothing about WW1 or 2. Like others I had family military history from WW1 to 2005 when I completed 23 years. But of the course the poppy is also worn to remember all service personnel who have fallen in all subsequent conflicts, unfortunately we have younger generations who are more celebrity obsessed that are interested in any history at all. :expressionless: Apologies' for the rant!

  12. Met mates at Bahnstormers nr Alton, had a cuppa. Fat bloke (proper fat n'all) said I bumped into him. What I really wanted to say "take too long to walk round you", but I was surprisingly polite as I never bumped into him. He bumped into me when he thought I was going to kiosk and was going to beat him to counter, I wasn't. I was going to fist bump my mates. They'd already got me a coffee. It's okay matey, your route to the pies is free. Other mate quipped though "padding shit in that all that gear?".

  13. I would hate to think what they're teaching kids today in the classroom, probably rewriting history as we speak.:p

  14. A really lovely day. Nice walk with the wife and dogs this morning. A decent pedal out after lunch. A quick shower and out on the SL for 50 odd Miles as it was so nice this afternoon. Off out for dinner as the wife has a voucher to spend.
