Went out in the car, drove 25 miles which is halfway to where I was going, realised I’d forgotten my wallet, drove back home to get it
Got up mid morning after a late night and too much vodka, had a full breakfast, now watching some mismatched film on the couch and no intention of moving for the rest of the day.
Discovered my new to me Glasses (first pair I’ve had) don’t fit in my Xlite, like not at all! And in my Shoei they go in but don’t sit on my nose! Damn….. don’t anyone say contacts! That’s a step too far for me, still having a meltdown about needing glasses in the first place
Feeling your pain. I know it sounds daft but it’s worth taking your helmet with you when you buy glasses. Also ask optician for his recommendation for riding glasses. Don’t forget on a sports bike you tend to look through the top section of the glasses lens more than in normal wear.
6 hours gardening after 8 yesterday. Mature oaks look lovely until they shed leaves. I filled 3 wheelie bins with acorns last autumn. Still got loads of leaves to get rid of. Put 1500 litres of bark chip on the beds. With that and my first workout yesterday after a few months out with a bad back and I’m a broken man
Really good advice thanks! Tbh I was caught off guard as I thought my eyes would be fine when checked. I’ll probably get some Dennis Taylor jobs ordered up for riding the bike and take my lid to try them
I feel your pain - just got stung for a monkey for a pair of Oakley varifocals after changing my lid to an HJC. Getting old sucks.
You don’t need to be of advancing years to need glasses, my lad has since he was around 8 years old. He uses a Shark brand helmet which has little sleeves in the liner to accommodate the arms of his glasses. He did try contacts but couldn’t get on with them.
it is good advice, I have some Joe 90 type glasses for the same reason, and don't be put off plastic lenses as they don't scratch as easily as you'd think and big weight-loss benefit (and cheaper). I have ignored comfort with every helmet as regards "do your glasses fit?" but instead, just to help with this, i've always bought pairs with the slimmest arms possible. I've even removed the transparent end sleeving before now in the quest for comfort. The only helmet that I had to "massage" because it was causing real problems/pain was an HJC and this was because my size is large and the design used one shell and padded internally increasingly to accommodate the smaller sizes, hence mine had the skimpiest padding between ears and polystyrene foam inner lining.
De-vined a large Elm tree up the road being throttled to death, very satisfying knowing it will live a bit longer. More and more are dying and toppling now, even the mighty oak.
