  1. There are lots of menaces allowed to drive at half your mother’s age.I see them on the roads most days too.:)

  2. Unfortunately she got to the point where she couldn’t negotiate a set of roundabouts near to where she lived as they’re so close together there was/is a sequence of lanes you needed to be in. Some very close shaves, it was better that she gave up driving as if it had been a cyclist/motorcyclist it wouldn’t have been just a dented car……..

  4. Worth investigating further down the line:upyeah:, but in the meantime i'll drop another or perhaps two motorcycles from the public highway this year.

  5. That's fantastic news :)

  7. After 8 & half months ownership, I had the first 9000 miles service at Millsport Ducati in Ballymoney, Co. Antrim, I then took the long route home via the North West coast and up over the Mid Antrim hills. 173 enjoyable miles after great customer service at Millsport.

  10. There are a lot of things age restricted, my lad at 16 pays tax yet is unable to vote. Has to wait till he’s 17 for his driving lessons.

Given that most 70 year old will have only been tested once across let’s say a 40 year plus entitlement it isn’t an unreasonable suggestion.

  11. How did it feel?
Did you get the wind in your hair?

  12. Can’t teach an old dog new tricks. Most 70’s would fail imho. The rules and standards have changed so much. I like to think I’m a decent driver, not sure I would pass. It’s not about driving: it’s about complying with what they want to test. Stuff like that gap you know you can easily get through, the examiner won’t like and fails

  13. Yeah. Although hanging my arse out the window did raise a few eyebrows.

  14. This unfortunately is true, but if a 17 year old is required to drive to a standard then for me so should a 70 year old. The standards and rules have changed and as you’re aware it incumbent on licence holders to be fully aware of these changes.

I’m not sure I could pass tbh even though I drive/ride a fair distance in a 12 month period. So how about a minimum of the theory test every 5 with a medical every 2 for example.

  15. I’m hoping this isn’t true, I’m a good way off the big 70 but have a lot of friends who turn that corner very soon
All good sound and composed people who like to drink dance and live life to the full

Can’t comment on their driving standards though!

  16. Good to hear you’re back behind the the wheel
    Have a good weekend.

  17. I agree that there are a lot of older drivers out there that perhaps shouldn't be on the roads anymore, biu I have noticed the general standard of driving across all ages has deteriorated drastically (imho) over the years. A lot of drivers just don't seem to be aware of the concept of 'Mirror, Signal, Mirror & Manoeuvre, anymore, they just brake and then either indicate at the last minute or just turn without any indication. So it's definitely not an age thing, not here in Norther Ireland anyway.

  18. The average 70 year old won't pass the theory, so taking a test isn't happening.

  19. Agree with the mirrors, signal, manoeuvre thing
Scares me sometimes when fast over taking on the motorway and the prat in the middle lane flips the indicator on just as you are approaching.

  20. The standard of driving down the M5 yesterday in the pouring rain visibility almost zero was shocking and standing water
No wonder there was an accident further on down
How close do drivers want to be
