  1. agree, how can you possibly eat all that grease with nothing to mop it up?

  3. that's quite a day! I have dismantled some mundane MGB parts in the search for a leak and then put them all back together again, also walked for a mile and got offered a lift by a nice lady on a barge.

  4. Took my bike to a main agent for a (very expensive) repair. It's old, but absolutely pristine, and I mean pristine. When they brought it out, it had a 5 inch deep scratch right down the fairing. You can feel the scratch with your fingers. They didn't point it out, but did accept responsibility when I did.
They've said they'll ring me once their bodywork guy is back as "it might polish out". I'm dubious.
Should I demand a replacement fairing?
My concern is that it may superficially repair for a while, but then become noticeable again. The repair they did was extremely expensive and this shouldn't have happened. There's no way they wouldn't have noticed when it it I don't think, but they did accept responsibility.

  5. Because the repair was very expensive (take your word for it) then they should "make good" at their cost if done while in their care - it's a no-brainer surely? - can you get a replacement still?/would a quality respray of the damaged presentation face be acceptable to you?

  6. If you can catch it with your finger nail then it won’t polish out, tell them you want a replacement part as a repair could fail later on and the machine is pristine condition.

  7. Thanks, I thought that may be the case.

  8. I suppose that because it was a main agent, with main agent prices, I'm less accepting than if it had been someone else.

  9. ..but they were repairing it in the first place?.. you are talking about a scratch rather than a gouge which might turn into a crack? - anyway, if replacement is still available then seems only fair.

  10. I've taxed the red superlight today, a little late in the year but a gentle rideout in the sunshine for the secondtime of the year has helped the mindset today.

  13. No, they were repairing an engine issue when it happened.

  14. Looks fabulous, such classic lines.
Is this the one you’re looking to sell?

  15. The plate wasn’t that large hence the over crowding look, I have to say though the food was lovely. Not your generic sausage, bacon etc we try and find a cafe that source locally as it tastes so much better as is for us worth the premium.

It was the LostArc in Rhayader hard to find as it’s tucked away from the road but has its own car park which is a bonus given how busy Rhayader gets.

  16. thanks for clarifying, totally understand now. The one time I bought a car from a dealer, I soon realised that it had early clutch slip so chopped it straight back at them. It got a new clutch fairly quickly but then noticed a fresh dent on the bonnet, right at the front. Bonnet was aluminium, and I learnt a lot later that this was pretty common if (aluminium) bonnet shut by someone heavy-handed. A replacement wasn't possible so they painted the whole panel, and it was very good. This was a main dealer also so it had to be really.

  18. I don’t like when certain sellers don’t point stuff out that they’ve damaged during their care, had it a few times leaves a bitter taste.

  20. despite mixed messages, I think it was her hubby who rushed off ahead/drove in car to get the lock gates open all ready for arrival. I suppose I could possibly have taken advantage but he would have wondered where we got to. :upyeah:
