Tbf, I didn’t have time to ring around, so when my current insurance company knocked £100 off the renewal figure, I just went with that. I’m dreading/ interested to see how much my car insurance is, in June, in comparison.

Drove to Newhaven, got the boat to Dieppe, just had a 9 course tasting dinner with wine flight, washed down with a couple of cognacs.
It's not a bad venue.......but it is a warehouse. We were right at the front and had a good view of the bands. Talking of which....Stereo MC's were great, the Inspiral Carpets were too loud so it was just a noise, but the Happy Mondays were excellent! Bez was off his tits though
Worked on the myriad of problems on my bmw that a main dealer cant or won't fix. Find they had damaged the high pressure fuel pumps last time they worked on it and never said anything. Changed them now the engine works. Changed the airbags at the rear as the back end used to sag. According to the master tech it was because of damaged ride height sensors. Dear me. And the number of missing and damaged fasteners is incredible and the car has only been worked on by main dealer. Next problem was what they said was a wiring fault turns out to be a damaged charge air cooler pump. Had to remove all of this To get to this Don't be fooled by using a main dealer that they know what they are doing, or even care.
Flown to Palma (Majorca) for a long (very) drunken weekend with mates (10 of us) that I have known for 38 years...the differences just disappear over the years...such a wonderful thing.
A main Alfa Romeo dealer secured the exhaust manifold using ny-loc nuts, on my then Alfa 75. It fell off on the M6 I’ve experienced similar unnecessary expense/ incompetence with a certain motorcycle brand main dealer.
The Practice Nurse at my local Doctor’s surgery is happy with my blood pressure. A couple of small tweaks to my diet and a bit more exercise and it should be even better Hoorah Andy
Organised a group visit to De Havilland museum in Herts with guided tour for us. Little things that get me going now.
When I got my Z400 home from the dealer (brand new bike) 18 months ago, the number of things that were just wrong was disturbing. Inconsistent fastener types, with/ without washers, loose nuts and bolts, etc. Subsequent fettling and maintenance has also highlighted that almost no thing is torqued to the correct value. The front and rear wheel nuts/axle nuts being particularly bad. I suspect that these are done up using a pneumatic wrench which is set at a fixed value... DIY and/or a marque specialist is the way to go.
I’m finding hospitals are much like main dealers. They’re just processing people. My mum is 97 and is reaching/has reached the end of her days. We can’t complain, she’s had a good innings and a good life but it’s distressing to see her suffering and struggling to breath. Things could be done but aren’t. Things could be done much quicker but aren’t. I’ll never forgive the nurse that just plainly couldn’t be bothered to reconnect the drip because ‘she was just going off shift’. She looked at her upside down nurses watch and actually said it to me! WTF! The next team were horrified and had it reconnected in literally, with no exaggeration, 2 minutes, with a smile. To be fair I think the NHS is unfairly much maligned, many people work hard and care. Unfortunately some appear not so dedicated, which is a shame when you’re dealing with peoples lives. No amount of money or politicking can ever make up for that. Had a couple of conversations with the Doctors over the last couple of days which really bring things to a cold sharp focus. We took the decision to move mum back to the care home where we can visit any time and she’ll get better care. I hope she doesn’t suffer for too long. Bloody hell what a thing to say. A week ago in the care home the nurse said to me; “We can’t get her to drink water, the only thing she’ll have is Prosecco”! I had to laugh, good old mum, what a way to go.
