  1. Currently sat in what looks like God's waiting room. My Carole's uncle by marriage, passed at 96. I'm probably one of the five youngest at the wake :joy: Andy

  5. 30 years of Dirt; Frank Skinner doing stand up. Thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend it but be quick, only on until the 24th of August (at the Gielgud on Shaftesbury Avenue, there’s some regional dates after that). Very reasonable at £33 a ticket too.

  6. Drove from Switzerland to northern Germany yesterday. Ballsed up and booked a hotel without aircon, so suffered last night in the heat.

Mrs said the locals were doing donuts all night in the car park next door, but the umpteen free drinks the manager gave me meant I slept through it all!

  7. Renewed my AA membership... the initial quote was for £178 up from £114 last year. However if I cancelled my membership & signed up to be a new member and took advantage of their 40% promotional discount I could get it for £80 (instead of £133).

So I phoned them up to point this out & what do you know, they quoted me £115....

Don't shit like this just get on your goat... it's just scamming by any other name. Pah!

  10. Drove home from Germany yesterday, via the Autobahn. Got the M5 up to 162mph on the clock, then it hit the limiter. Mrs wasn’t impressed, and said it was irresponsible or something to do that when it’s raining. No sense of adventure, these women.

  11. What I want to know is would they have got me home appreciably quicker than 6 hours (hottest day of the year so far, M4 shut, crash on the A417).

  12. There was I hoping that what she wasn't impressed by was that there was a limiter!

  15. Been with them for 25 years now and just been told my van is now not covered and would need a separate cover for it as commercial,

  16. I looked into buying a small car based van e.g Fiesta, Corsa etc, for personal use but both the insurance & road tax would have been higher than if I'd bought the car model it was based on.

Tbf I previously had the AA as a perk via some fancy bank account they we're pretty good the 3 or 4 times I called them out for issues with the Raptor.

Essentially these breakdown cover merchants are just insurance salesman but like all insurance I'd rather pay, say a tenner more premium, if it means I don't have to go through the hassle of phoning up or changing because of some arbitrary increase they think I won't notice or be too lazy to change.

  17. I have AA vehicle national breakdown/ return to home (not home start) for £6.42 pcm / £77 annually.

  18. Sorry to read this Viv - this from S8RAH on one of the Forums (Mini alarm also constantly going off until battery flat):-

"Ooo, long time since this happened to me (6 years to be exact).
It was a problem with the sensor or switch in the door which closes the window that last little bit when you shut the door. I can't remember if it didn't close the window or didn't recognise that it was closed but replacing it fixed the problem. Oddly, the MINI down the road did exactly the same thing a week later.
    Hope this helps."
