  2. I think you can have a period of acclimation to statins , when I started my shins felt like I’d won a Celtic shin kicking contest, now no noticeable side effects. You probably should look to take some supplements to address the effects such as coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10).

  3. What were they. I'm taking them and no effects.
Edit I've just read about aching joints. My knees ache like fuck, maybe it's them

  9. I started a course of Atorvastatin 40mg, one per day, just over 3 months ago and no side effects so far. Blood tests showed totally normal cholesterol within 6 weeks -which I thought was impressive. I have switched up my diet too.

  11. Good to know. I’m on the 20mg version to be reviewed in three months.
Day three for me, so a while to go yet.

  12. It was Artorvastatin.

  13. And 3 months later I have no side effects and normal cholesterol as per my blood test. I guess we're all a little different.

  14. Been taking statins for 17 years and like most started on 20mg , soon progressed to the highest dose (80mg), undoubtedly without them I'd have died along time ago.

Yes there are side effects, like most prescribed drugs really , but as already said a change of statins can help.... All I can say is, a heart attack is alot more upsetting than the side affects of statins :joy:

  19. With normal cholesterol being the present NHS recommendations? i.e. total less than 5 & calculated LDL less than 3

My levels have been a farty bit higher than that e.g. 5.6 & 3.7 for the past 2 years and although the doctors keep pestering me to 'come in for a chat' I've, up to now, not bothered.

But all this talk has got me thinking again....
