So what have you done today..?

  1. sticking to the thread (unusually) I is over the moon on finding that the secondary imbalance on the little Supercity was indeed a loose clutch assembly which means I don't have to tear the whole engine down. If I looked up my Horoscope it would have said 'not a good week for engines' as I have to investigate similar symptoms on 750 Elefant after many years of reliable running.:frown:

  2. Been there too, broke 2 ribs falling down the stairs 8 years ago, extremely painful, worst bit for me was that as the breaks were round the back I could feel them move every time I did, that felt really weird!

  3. As for today, I took Nicky to Skullduggery Tattoo's in Sheringham to see the design to go round her playing cards tattoo. What a brilliant drawing they've come up with! Can't wait to post a new pic in the tattoo's thread.... Keep watching folks!

  4. You wanna try breaking all your ribs in one go. That's a killer:frown:

  5. Nope, you're alright, I'll give it a miss thank you!

  6. I'd just shoot myself.
It's not for nowt that I have nothing to do with Windows.
But iCloud is a lot more complicated than they make out. Needlessly so. Fortunately I work with the people that understand it.

Can you post an instruction manual for those of us less fortunate then!

When I've consulted with the gurus, I may even start a thread about it with all the answers.

  9. Not the first time i've broken ribs, but all of them... no thanks

Oh and thanks for the well wishers

  10. bet it is!

  11. just had the privilege of visiting JHP for the first time. Dropped off the 749 for a dyno session to get the air/fuel set correctly (needs specific ecu leads so could not be done when Toine built the motor).

John took the time out of his busy day to show me around the workshop and some of the fantastic machines he has there. The Ducati community is such a small world: Stuart Easton went to World Supersports from Johns BSB team to ride my bike. John knows the team owner and cleared Stuart to move up to world level.

And number 2 son now has a new coat : )

  12. Currently polishing my helmet...

My poor brother, meanwhile, has just discovered a leaking fork seal on his 1098S. We're off to Czechoslovakia on thursday...

  13. Did nothing today, but Saturday picked up my 1198SP, Sunday cleaned the flies off the front.

  14. Went to Southend ... Have no idea why it's a sea thing ....

Superdry city!! All the men in it.

Did not have a happy time coming home and a nice petrol garage man made me a huge latte no charge until I was able to face the rest of the trip home. What an Angel.
Going to Reading Fest FRiday for the day .. Going to see The Cure.
Just hope I am fit to drive there and back il either be buzzing or wreck.
Better be some 24 hour services on way back

  15. Bugger..........I'd forgotten about the Reading Festival..........I have to go to Reading for a wedding on Saturday

  17. SORTED.

Phoned around, no-one had the seals in stock? Convinced I was going to have to wait yet ANOTHER week due to the fortnight Italian summer shutdown I ordered the two seals and shaft nut from the Excellent Stein Dinse in Germany...

Eight minutes after I got the order conformation email I got a text from Riders saying my seals had come in.

Missioned out to Brissol today and picked up both seals & the pulley nut (quite happy refitting the old nuts TBH? Were in good condtion, fitted fine with a little blue threadlock? Just wanted a spare  )

Out to the garage... had a passing thought if I heated up a soldering iron and melted inbetween the steel seal body and the alloy case I may be able to get a dentist pick behind it? This worked quite well - the seal had gone hard to such a point it was possible to spin it around in the case??! Unfortunately not to the point it would pull out...

I gave up and resorted to drilling a 3mm hole in it, careful not to damage the case or shaft? By a steady process of drilling a little then hoovering all the steel swarf up with a magnet stick the hole produced little mess? Put a screw in there & wiggled it out with a pair of water pump pliers and the seal popped out!! SUPERB.

Heres the hole behind the seal?

New seal in - tape over the circlip groove etc to stop any damage to the seal, a 19mm long socket made a good tapper-onner?

Did the horiz.pot seal as well whilst I had the belts off, all three now renewed! Hallefknlooyah!

Now I need the rain to stop.

  18. Been to the office, waded through too many legal documents for anyone to comprehend, spoke to my US rep, came home and cleaned Daisy, stuck "El Toro" sticker on screen, had my evening meal and now doing absolute sod all.

  19. Did exactly the same as 470, except the seal was the final drive shaft seal on a KTM MX bike I have in at the moment for a refurb.....mustnt forget the little O ring behind the seal.....job done, gearbox now holds the oil its supposed to .....:upyeah:

  20. Just the usual, went to work, looked confused while squinting at spreadsheets. came home, 4km run, 35 sit ups 25 leg raises and 25 press ups. oh, and started making plum wine from the wild cherry plums I picked the other week.

rest day tomorrow, then in the pool for an hour on Thursday.
