  2. Yes it was some chap locally who wanted it gone and didn’t even have a wood burner, our log man usually charges £80 per bag when we buy from him.
We have a log burner with a stove top so we do boil the kettle etc on it in winter but it won’t heat our water tank. I may convert it as the hot water tank is just the other side of the wall from it so it would be easy enough to do.

  3. i had a real "count your blessings" moment at Boxhill yesterday when i learnt that a youngish rider that i had got to know is now a paraplegic after an accident at Brands. He has a wife and a son at University. I can't imagine where his mind is now. First few days in hospital looked promising as they couldn't determine how bad his spinal chord was until a second operation.
It's the same as when other people have been brave enough to come on here and share something terrible, I really can't think of what i would say to Ed if he was a close friend of mine, what could you possibly say that's of any comfort.

  4. On a bike?

  5. It’s a really tricky one Chris. Count your blessings indeed.

  7. I’ve been in a similar situation only I got the luckier outcome, broke my back, told I may never walk again, then told it will be a long road to walking again, I’ll never work again etc, I set myself a target and beat all expectations to recover.
People handle things differently, I didn’t for a minute entertain not walking again so I don’t know how I’d of coped if things had gone the way of your friend. It completely changed the way I look at life and the whole work /life balance thing though.

  10. Hopefully he didn’t get pulled. The car has no MoT which would be a seizure at the roadside. Andy

  11. Noted as a 1964 car. Does it need one?

  12. Good question, I don’t know. Gov.uk website flashes up red stating no MoT. Never owned an exempt vehicle so don’t know the process. Andy

  13. As long as it's registeed an Historic vehicle it won't need one (as long as the form to exempt it has been submitted).

  14. As others have said it's over forty years old like my old 1961/62 Land Rover.

  15. there is something a bit "warm" about this car as although it has a circa 1965 reg plate, it's listed as a Wesfield 11 rather than an original, but Westfield didn't start making replicas until the 80's. Nice car all the same.

  16. Yes he said it was an Replica with a Lotus badge attached on the bonnet.

  17. the car is not entitled to be Tax & MOT exempt if it started life as a Westfield. If it is a Lotus 11 originally but with Westfield bodywork etc then it would be acceptable but as it's registered as a Westfield it doesn't look promising.
Alternatively, it is 100% Westfield but has a lapsed MOT!

  18. Misleading-date (vanity) reg. No law against it, so yes - needs a MOT, etc unless it was registered before 1984...

  19. I knew the Exemption date was rolling but due to memory/cognitive grappling i hadn't realised that we had reached 1984 already.
So it is possible that the car is exempt as Westfield 11 production began in 1982. :upyeah:
