Went to the funeral of a good friend today. Unfortunately the victim of the Big C. She was very well loved and respected, with well over 200 people at the service and wake, the golf club ran out of food and had to make a load more sandwiches up at the drop of a hat! Feeling a bit numb tonight.
Rode around Wales for 7 hours, inhaling 2 stroke whilst mostly following my Son on his little 125. Roads were a bit pooh (literally) in the morning drying out after midday. Transit van drivers are still the pits. Power washed the grime off now.
I’ve just sat and watched all the pigeons, doves and squirrels scatter in the garden because a large Buzzard just landed in the tree right outside my lounge window, only the third time I’ve seen one hunting in the garden. It sat there watching for about 10 minutes them flew off low and fast, it came back to the tree with a large rat in its talons then it was gone! Isn’t nature wonderful, I still get just as excited by it as I did as a small boy.
This was interesting on R4 earlier today - programme called Rare Earth about raptors, etc: www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m0024x4b
With the leaf blower on the drive entrance this morning then a walk on someone's land and spotted these lovely looking garden ornaments.
Me and Doris are now at the Sunderland Empire Theatre to watch the stage version of Warhorse. I saw it years ago at the Lowry in Salford too
Woke up yesterday and my neck was loads better, so did some physio and decided that I was fit enough to ride to Devon for the weekend. Put the trickle charger on at 8am, went to the gym and got home a few hours later. Packed the bike up, put all my gear on and wheeled the bike into the drive, excited to be going away for the last trip of the year. Got on the bike, went to turn it on, tick tick tick, the battery was completely dead. Fuck it. Plugged the charger back in, in the hope that it would start, but there was no chance. I phoned the dealer, he said even if you get it started, that battery is toast, so after a lot of faffing about, my mate and I unpacked all our gear and drove to Devon. Gutted. Cheered ourselves up in the bar, and will be doing so again today and tomorrow, as we’re still very traumatised.
We did think about it, but wouldn’t have left until about 2.30pm, so would have arrived in the middle of the night!
I've just watched the motogp final race qualifying with so many permutations who knows what the outcome'll be.
Going to attend my bail shortly, depending on what Starmers enforcers try and fit me up with you may not hear from me later.
