Bet you have loads of mates saying '...don't worry it will recover...' - I know I do! It's just I was literally looking at retiring and drawing out a lump sum now... not in five years time!
Semi retired in Feb, though since, on average, I've had more work come in than over the last 2-3 years. As I've stared draw down I've been monitoring the funds involved and steeling myself for worse to come. IFA has said hold firm, it's a long term investment. Agree with this though it's been a somewhat scary week with 10% wiped off at one stage. Thankfully the orange turnip has called a pause to some of it.
I remember during the Covid-19 period my pension pot lost just over £70k, which really got my blood pressure going. At the time my financial advisor said to keep cool as the investments were longer term and would, almost inevitably, 'come back to life'....He was right, so KC&CO!!
Spent the day at Grasmere. Missus wanted to check out wordsworth cottage and then we walked down to the stone beach on the river rothay. Got a much better look at the RAF flying about. Can't say for sure but yesterday I thought they where in typhoon jets and today tornados. Back home tomorrow
I look at mine a couple of times a week and that cnut has cost me a fortune over the past 2 weeks. It’s starting to look like the huge lump I took out to finance my house move will be in the best place given it’s invested in bricks and mortar.
Yep, sounds like you did the right thing. You can’t go wrong with bricks and mortar. And actual savings. And gold.
Today I have finished the bedroom dresser/sideboard, and even though I say so myself, it looks rather good Ive also had a french polisher come and quote me for refurbishing my dining table and Ive set up Doris's PC and have begun watering the newly laid lawn. This afternoon I am doing bot all
Yep - absolute cunts theyd be better placed down on the coast with that set of bins watching the channel...maybe a bit more productive.
Whereabouts? I know that this is probably occurring more and more across the UK but a county/force area might be useful.
Only the last two houses (one 3 years and one for two years)........and the house before that was 20 years
Garage work tonight (could be a late one) - chuck the old winter tyres which have been on and off for the last 4 years or so. Refit the Supercorsa's i took off last september before the winter. If i get time, strip the fuel tank on the rsv4 to swap out both the fuel filters. Tomorrow: pick up some second hand ex secondary double glazing and ex greenhouse glass, recut and fit to my home made greenhouse. Then sunday help a lad from the z1000 forum service his z1000 (never met him before but chatted on the phone) - teach a man to fish and all that...then if i can get that done out on the hyper in the afternoon with my other mate on his Dorso1200...busy weekend!
