I knew it wasn't going to give up without a fight.. Thought I better change the front exhaust section on the little Arosa as was an advisory on MOT last October. even bought a 22 mm pipe flare spanner for the exhaust sensor, which after extending the leverage came undone to my surprise after 20 years never touched. I remember how the manifold nuts can be a problem, and often shear a stud, so left the engine running to get lovely and toasty and then started spraying the nuts when hot enough to evaporate "the penetrant" immediately. 3 out of 4 started walking around, great I thought. Fourth one, despite full hex socket decided to slip. I could see it looked like simple delamination so hunted around for a 16 mm which I could only find as an extended socket, and then ground the end flat. Using plenty of leverage, it was great when it finally decided to loosen, and so excited was I, that I failed to notice the extension bar was slipping off and so effectively punched myself in the nose. (more like nose and jaw). Nice cup of tea and a piece of cake before getting the grinder out for the two clamps halfway down the body, which are also original and heavily corroded and waay past ever being undone conventionally anymore.
I know full well what it's like to be hit by a metal bar This was quite a few years ago, I was fighting a truck tyre, trying to get it on the rim, I lost
probably worth a seperate thread, could call it "near misses". In my early 20's i set about removing a seized hand brake cable and ferrule by sawing the end off. Trouble is, the handbrake was on and std design (Fiat 500) had a long compression spring under the ferrule/nipple which on being released struck me on the forehead and i almost saw stars. A little lower and would have blinded me for sure.
Spent £99 exactly on sweet FA. And didn’t even find what I was looking for. Got that in The Range next door for another 34 earth pounds. And apparently I need to buy another desk to replace the perfectly good one I already have. FML
Went to a car meet this morning. Currently at Wisley Gardens with our niece for the afternoon. Will go out for something to eat somewhere once we’ve dropped her off.
Pop into Esher and try Jose Pizzaro’s the Swan Inn, https://josepizarro.com/venues/jose-pizarro-swan-inn-esher/. Andy
Today, i took The Dragon shopping, normally, she goes on her own, but she had a slight mishap a few days ago, silly sod fell over in the back garden and broke her wrist, after lunch, i removed the carpet mats from the van, swept the floor, laid out a grid of carpet tape, then stuck the mats down, much better now
Slow progress in the bathroom and house in general.. but managed to fit a new rad to match the taps. And always when doing diy you get new tools to add to the tool box.
Went to the The International Classic MotorCycle Show in Stafford Some nice machines And a lot of jumble.
Went down to the coast for the after and evening. I thought that one bar was playing Womack & Womack’s Teardrops quite loud, then it took a turn I wasn’t familiar with, and realised that the lady in the first photo was singing live over a backing track. Now in the Brighton Centre for Joe Bonamassa; the queue went so far round the block that we ended up being amongst the first in as we were by the back entrance.
Yesterday - Bought some new general use trainers. All a bit different - Hoka (who are they ? ) and massive deep foam soles. Give it a go eh.
i should have photographed it, lovely sponge and cream and icing - 80th Birthday cake from a bash i went to yesterday evening, very nice, had some red drips on it which was unusual.
