Home from the Alps, sadly they have had about a foot of snow since we left yesterday :-( Oh well, at least we could see this year. Last year we had brilliant fresh powder everyday but visibility was almost nil. Just put the last load of washing In The machine and collected the dog. Now scoffing a bar of Milka we brought back with us.
At the airport about to board a plane to New York City for dinner & sight seeing for a day with the girlfriend!
Off to Pompey shortly, 10pm crossing, 7 hours on the boat to get some shut-eye, then it's a two hour drive and straight into grafting. Hoping to get 3 days work done in 2 so we can go on the smash:Hungry:
Today I have been in the office, frigged around on the internets, written a press release and I've just spent the past hour ironing. I've still got another couple of hours to do I reckon. Tomorrow I have got to write a presentation/script for a presentation I am giving on Wednesday. Look North will be there too with cameras, so I could be on the tellybox Wednesday night.
I have spent much of the day dealing with a cystitic dog. Clearing up multiple puddles of piss, taking it to the vet, washing the entire downstairs floor. I have also made fresh tagliatelle, and a seafood sauce to eat with it. I am now stuffed. Tomorrow will be more productive, workwise, I hope.
Shitty Day Had an Investigation at work as one of the driver's I manage got spotted smoking in a lorry by the site manager who drove past him. Pretty much know he will now lose the job he's had for 6 years as it's out of my hands, feel sorry for the guy cos he's a great worker but and the end of the day rules are there for a reason and those above me won't let it slide. His defence was it was a 3 hr drive back up the M1 and he felt he needed a cigarette, Are there no services on motorways
Even if the decision is not yours, You should fight for him if you feel it's the wrong decision, I see people smoking every day in company vans and trucks, if he is genuinely remorseful surely the company could just give him a warning rather than sack a man for having a fag! :Rage:
I will do my best for the guy because I think he's worth keeping and would sooner him get a severe warning than the boot, but it's hard when you work with people who have come in to "Improve" the operation and only work in black or white and not grey.
Just got back from New York City, had a great time...a definite must see if you have never been! The Freedom Tower where 9/11 happened! One thing that I missed was Central Park & John Lennon's place where he lived & died...next time!
