  2. Well I've had a brilliant day - split in two parts.

At 9am this morning I was meant to be meeting Bettes at Outlane for a run out, but unfortunately he couldn't make that time as the job he was working on last night wouldn't be finished when he'd planned it to be and he'd be getting home early morning, but he thought he'd make 10am at the meeting point. Anyway he didn't even make the 10am meet as the job didn't finish till 6am this morning. :(

So I was out on my own. No problem. It was then that I headed towards Rochdale and discovered a fantastic route over Saddleworth moor. There was no traffic apart from the odd cyclist here and there. Bliss! :upyeah:

When I got back to Holmfirth about midday I rang SWMBO to ask if she fancied meeting me for a coffee, and as it was a gorgeous day I didn't want to go home cos I knew that if I did I'd never go out again this afternoon. And whilst we were having our latte at the newly refurbished Old Bridge Inn Dangerous Jim rang to ask if I fancied a ride out this afternoon. :)

An hour later Jim arrived in Holmfirth. SWMBO went home. Jim and I went to Squires at Sherburn. :upyeah:

There were hundreds, if not thousands of bikes there!

Another coffee and a good chat with Jim and we were off back again. :)

The roads were busy'ish this afternoon but we were able to get a wiggle on ;)

Got back home after 8 hours and I can honestly that was one of the best riding days of the year, so far :)

Let's hope that September continues like this :upyeah:

  3. Tackled the rear paddock in an attempt to shake a hangover.
Got bored of that quickly so pottered about in the barn with a can of wd40 lubricating anything that looked rusty :)

  4. I went to see the grandson for his 9th birthday. On the way home called in Halfrauds and bought some all purpose grease. Got the ST 70 project out and stuffed the grease in the front forks then fitted the twin exhaust I bought last weekend

  5. Had a brilliant ride this afternoon. Only about 70 miles but 70 miles of twisty roads through tiny villages, over passes, through forests and mountain pastures. I went to the Vallée de Joux, a valley up in the Jura which is the centre of the watch-making industry. It's very odd. I went past Audemars Piguet, Jaeger Lecoultre, Blancpain etc. The tiny towns they are in are completely one horse, sleepy places where nothing happens and the inhabitants are simple folk and not very well off (property prices are cheap). You need to go up a pass to get there - an unlikely place for producing the expensive accoutrements of the jet-set in the world's richest capitals.

Very little traffic (I choose my roads carefully) and about 25°C. I am still very much in love with my 999 - such a good bike - and very happy to be wearing my Dainese Krishima one-piece which is supremely comfortable and gives you excellent mobility. You'd never know it was made out of leather (I suppose that quite a lot of it isn't).

  6. run down to blairdrummond safari park, don't they go well when it's chilly. in the groove on the way down, fun day at the park didnt get the mojo on the way back so just kept it steady still fun tho, think that's the last run for the fugly this year need a front tyre, it's gubbed. need arms like gorillas to pick it up through the corners unless your really traveling.

  7. Working from home so just bought some Party Rings

  8. Written up some meeting notes from last Friday. Took a look at some figures a potential client has sent me from their business plan, and now I'm getting ready for another meeting this afternoon which I know will be a complete and utter waste of my time.

  9. It's another beautiful day, so I have taken my mountain bike out for a spin up into the Jura. 40 miles of roads and apparently 770m of climbing.
Now I'd better get on with some work.

  15. something else i forgot to mention. at the safari park on sunday watching the bird display the fella brought out a vulture and went on to describe how he thought they where the most important animal on the planet, apparently they can eat all sorts of diseased meat where most others cant without passing it down the food chain, about 98% of the vultures have been killed in africa by poachers which is leading to a massive increase in mortality rates in humans over there. interesting

  18. My wife phoned me at work today complaining of feeling sick and having stomach pains.

"What have you had to eat ? " I asked her

"An hour ago, I had two mars bars, a ham sandwich and a strawberry milkshake"

"That's why then" I said "You're probably hungry"
