Unblocked the gutter, trimmed the silver birches out the front ready for felling ( where the mancave is going ) stopped off at the in laws for a chat and cup of tea, did the usual taxi run, oh and spent hours on here! Hate to think what's going to happen when I get back to work, will be having withdrawal symptoms!

  15. It turns out that the building we're in is one of 60 'super-connected' buildings in the city. The Gherkin is another.
There was a meeting to be had about this and they hosted. :)

  16. I'm a huge Gherkin fan. A truly brilliant piece of architecture and now completely iconic, rather like the Chrysler Building in NYC.

I know it's not open to the public, but the ladies in reception will give you a postcard of it if you ask nicely. I did.

  17. Yep - I'm a Business Development Director for an engineering company that builds ski slopes

  18. You probably won't be visiting Switzerland any time soon, then.

  19. Me too, it's the main, ok, only reason I went to the meeting.
The attention to detail, for example how it meets the ground, is wonderful. Have a look at this on other iconic buildings and it's often disappointing.
