After 10 at night and on Sundays, you are meant to "keep it down". This means, on a Sunday, you don't use your lawnmower or a power drill or something of that nature. But it's give and take like anywhere else. There definitely are parts of German-speaking Switzerland where they are very uptight but if I was living in a block of flats where you weren't allowed to flush your bog after 10 pm, or use a cake mixer after 8pm, I'd move. That's just ridiculous. I lived in a flat in Lausanne for 20 years. We only had the police around once, but we did have the stereo up pretty loud and it was about 1 or 2 am. Even then, etiquette is to go and complain yourself before you start phoning the Old Bill, who, frankly have better things to do and don't much appreciate being called out for such pettiness.
I think the rules over here are a little different. Everyman for themselves seems to be the key one. I could live with the Swiss rules I reckon as long as I can still take my bike out on a Sunday for a blast.
Just tried to get to B&Q in York, got 3 mins from my house and hit traffic, took me 30 mins to turn around and get back. York is closed, A64 Eastbound from Leeds is shut, bad accident, sounds grim just before Christmas. All other routes are at a standstill including the country lanes around the West of York. Busiest shopping day so far evidently - fooking nightmare, glad to be out of it!
Not good - I noticed the last few days how many people out driving were concentrating just not on their driving ,
Just about managed to hobble out of bed this morning. The bastard with the Mack truck visited me in my sleep last night and ran over me a few times.I am however quite happy and will be mainly looking at motorbike porn on the internet today.I have also had a couple of happy pills to keep me going. And as always Mrs Mervyn is looking after me.
Got some wire brushes for the drill and some autosolve , Termis gonna be shinin like a new shillin by this eve ,,,,,( thots to poor buggers on A64 and Merv !!! )
Well I tried to shop in Feltham for a few last minute bits. 1.2 miles away or 60 minutes. Traffic is a nightmare. I would normally advise any visitors thinking of coming to Feltham to try some else. We have our famous young offenders suicide venue and that's about it. Try Staines on Thames, it's famous for its Lino factory (no longer there),
