Well I finally got home mid afternoon without my luggage as I expected. As far as I know BA have no idea where it is either (according to their tracking system). I've had a couple of hours sleep, had a shower etc and been to see my new baby grandson, Henry James, who was born at 10am this morning I feel good now
Went to introduce myself to Geoff at Baines. He gave the bike a once over and it turns out I have a 45mm to 50mm system with OEM 50mm pipes off something else (sps? photo attached). I also have a SilMoto chip so that would explain the occasional back fire in town. So, when I get 50mm race cans it should be pretty close. It also indicates someone spent some money somewhere in the past. Does mean however the pair of 45mm pipes I bought off eBay this week won't fit, DOPE! Apparently the engine sounds "tight", which is reassuring. Also, stopped at OYB , Aylesbury, and checked out another 996 parked up, turns out my rear brake pedal is ground down shorter which is why A, the new rubber for it does not fit, I owe the seller some humble pie, and B, I can't find it with my foot. And the fuel warning light seems to have fixed itself, or is totally knackered, I'm not sure which. Oh, and the rear end stepped out on me for the first time, which was nice.
Oh, and I checked out the scrambler. There is a place for it in the biking world, but not in my garage.
Well today I have done just that. I have tidied one of my garages, swept it out and put carpet down in readiness for when my Scrambler turns up, so it can sit side by side with my 899. I also had a ten minute blast on the 899 just to blow the cobwebs off. My head still feels fuzzy from jet lag so I didn't want to do something stupid. Maybe I'll get out for a couple of hours tomorrow if I feel compos mentis. Oh and my missing luggage turned up at midday.
I quite liked it in a "going out for lunch" type of bike way. It looks relaxed and fun and easy going. Type of bike to ride with a hangover for the fresh air.
Tested the new helmet and apart from early onset squirrel cheeks I was v impressed Good blast to shaftesbury to look at my new bike ! Someone on a Diavel rocked up who was looking at changing - anyone here ?
after a nice lil blast i have just spent the last hour cleaning oil spray from all over my bike... haven't even started to try cleaning my worn 3 times only leather jacket :Rage::Rage: it'll wipe of the leather ok but not the stretchy fabric stuff on the inside of the arms....:Grumpy:
Spent most of the day washing my car cleaning black trim and treating it to a tidy up and a good carnauba wax polish I'm knackered now!!!
