  2. Had a run out, ended up at Sherburn in Elmet chewing the fat with a few mates - saw a new R1 in the flesh, very nice.
Wall to wall sunshine around York today and very warm! Over 20 degrees, it's still 16 now @ 6.30 :D

Put some California Cycleworks stickers on the R1 and gave it an oil and filter change - think I need my 998 back on the road, the CCW stickers would at least suit it better

A typical Sherburn Day - bikes constantly coming and going all day long with a pool of around 400 to 500 there at any one time - a few thousand there throughout today...

  5. Thanks Glid, Chickenhawk I've got. This is the other one, written as a novel I understand, but pretty much autobiographical.

Matterhorn: Amazon.co.uk: Karl Marlantes: 9781848874961: Books

The other book I was trying to get was Apache, about gunships in afghan-gets very good reviews.

  6. Sunny weather here again but with a biting north wind. It's only about 5 degrees. So no biking.
So finished weeding a patch, moved some irises to a better place, planted lupins and peonies and phlox. Tilled the earth which is now ready for the spuds which should be going in tomorrow.
Garden is looking a lot more sorted than usual at this time of year. Hoping hard work will pay off to free up biking time later.

  7. First ride out since last Oct. A chilly day but worth the effort.

Then spent several hrs in the garage trying to fit a ventureshield kit.
Lost patience and left it half done. How it looks tomorrow will decide if it gets completed or ripped off
    and slung in the bin.

Moved on to the track bike graphics and came away from the garage with a reasonable feeling of achievement.

  9. TT600 I highly recommend 'Apache', excellent book, although awful to read about mans capacity to inflict horror-When we we ever learn?

Just finished 'Men under fire', the definitive book about the reality of the misery in the trenches in WW1.

All I can say about that is...........War is truly appalling.

  10. Manchester-Aberystwyth-Manchester on sunny A and B roads via Stoke, Shrewsbury, Ludlow, Kidderminster, Rhyader, Devils Bridge - back through Bala, Nantwich and Congleton. Only a 1/4 of the M60 each way. Everything aches!

  18. Had a ride out to Loomies and on the way back like an utter pillock managed to run put of petrol. The fuel light had been on a while but spirited riding often puts it out again and then the trip resets and I thought I had more miles left than I did. At least that's my excuse.. I turned down the fuel 100 yards down the road from the cafe because they didn't have any premium octane which the bike does prefer. So I pushed my luck and thought I'd creep back to Winnall. What a twat.
Two people stopped, both Ducati owners. A guy on a Multi with his good lady on the back pulled up. There wasn't much he could do to help but it was good of him to stop on a fast bit of road. Then a guy pulled up in his car and insisted on going off to buy me a gallon of petrol so I didn't have to wait for the AA. I felt a proper fool when they both turned up together. He'd bought me a gallon of fuel and even a bottle of water and he absolutely refused to take any money off me and shot off again before I could protest any further. An incredibly kind and generous gesture. It turned out he was a 1098 owner. Ducati owners are the best.
Don't know if you're on this forum mate, but if you are you're a top man and I hope I can return the favour some day. Thank you. :upyeah:

  20. I finally got my 1st ride of the season, it was pretty chilly at 4 Celcius (39 Degrees) but well worth it, I also lost 1 of my carbon tail vents on the highway so I pulled the other off & ordered a new set!
