  5. Another family day out with wifey and daughter Anna. Been to Helmsley and then to Kilburn where the white horse is on the hillside and the Mouse-man Museum and workshops. Nice little 3 draw chest about 20" wide: £3000 :Wideyed::Wideyed::Wideyed::Wideyed::Wideyed:
Then went for Steak and Ale pie at The Crooked Billet Inn in Saxton near Sherburn In Elmet - truly remarkable food and well worth a visit if your ever in the area. Think I'm catching a cold now but back at work tomorrow so will at least be getting paid for my sorrows :(

  7. Excuse my butting in-but Pyracantha is another viscous spikey evergreen shrub. When I was a landscaper I was used to planting and pruning this plant. It doesn't take any prisoners.

  10. Yep Pyracantha is more viscous than gorse. Excellent anti intruder plant. A native Briar or a vigorous Rose, something like Rambling Rector trained up into a tree will stop anyone climbing it as well. Eventually..

  11. I'd second that. A dog rose is a vicious beast, but also has nice flowers. There's one I planted in my hedge. They are also hardy and hassle-free.

  12. I can't let a woman loose in the man cave :Nailbiting:

  13. I'm told they can be quite helpful...

still, shouldn't complain. at least the flight wasn't cancelled like a lot of the others were. the strike looks like it'll continue tomorrow. worth knowing if travelling across europe.

  16. Glad to see you back on the forum, Merv!

I have just gotten in from hacking back the willow tree in my front garden. It is getting a little bit big (i.e, fucking gigantic) so for safety's sake, I have started lopping it back. I still have more to do but I have no more room for branches at present!
The funny thing in all this was that, as I worked, I was listening to my iPod that has around 20000 songs on it, chosen at random. During the course of chopping the tree back, a song by Rush called The Trees came up on rotation. It is yet more proof that "real life" is anything but that, it's in fact a film with a soundtrack. Couldn't stop laughing (if you know the song, you'll get it).

Wrong time of year, Loz! I hear you say. You'll kill the tree, you cry. Good. I'm lopping it back partly because I am assessing whether I can chop the fucking thing down on my own without the help of someone who knows what they are doing. Early indications are, yes, I should be able to do this myself, but I may run out of thumbs before I've finished. We'll see.

When I attempted to move the car back out of the garage (where it was safely tucked away from my tree-felling activities), I discovered that my fob had died. Managed to reprogramme all my keys after a bit of faffing, which delayed my delicious pasta, which is now cooking. I don't mind telling you, I am fucking starving.

I've just realised, I am covered in sawdust

  19. Was minding my own business in the garage earlier when three door down neighbour popped her head round the door wondering if I wanted to buy any of her old biking kit as her new boyfriend isn't in to bikes

Picked up some dragging jeans like new and a fabric Alpine Stars jacket with armour for £30

She also has couple one piece leathers @daffyduck and some cammo trousers
