So when do you think you'll be putting the bike away for Winter?

  1. I quite enjoy winter ride outs but usually stop when the snow gets too deep......

  2. I will stop when the bloody mud from the sugar beet harvest gets too thick on the roads!!! Bloody farmers should clear it up but don't :-(

  3. Bike stays inside when the salt goes down, could be in matlock Saturday if I'm not fetching another bike.
    Steve

  4. Be good to see everyone in Matlock Saturday :upyeah:

  5. Not sure yet, but, could make Matlock Sat afternoon at a push.

What time, and where abouts, are you planning on meeting ?

  6. Centre of Matlock? Around 2pm/2.30pm?

  7. >>So when do you think you'll be putting the bike away for Winter?

I'm not familiar with the concept.

  8. I never hibernated my SS she was always ready to go on any good day even through winter.
I remember doing a bacon butte meet around the 29th dec couple years and had a good turn out.
    :)

  9. Anyone else noticed how it seems to be SS/2V riders who just carry on riding through winter ..... but it's the "Ooooh, look at the carbon panels on my million bhp race rep" lot who run away and hide the minute it's gets the slightest bit nippley ..... (nope, that's not a spelling mistake )

  10. All sorted see you there. Will be leaving Ashby about 1 ish :upyeah:

  11. Littlebert, I don't have one of those mega money/bhp machines, mines a humble ST3, but I live in very rural north Norfolk and the roads round here look more like farm tracks than roads! I'm also a fairly recent returnee to riding and don't consider my skills good enough to ensure mine or the wife's safety on very dodgy roads! I hope to take the road safe course next year to improve my ability and learn a lot more about how capable the bike is.

  12. Damn right........Ive got lots to do other that spend time cleaning my bike from all the crap that winter brings

  13. You may have inadvertently pointed out what model is conspicuous by it's absence from the Ducati range - a decent trailie; something like a half power hyper but with suspension soft enough to use dual purpose/knobbly tyres .......... there seem to be more 350/450 scramblers hidden in collections than on the road so prices are daft - maybe a new version would free the market up a bit!

This was on the way back from Friday Thorpe a couple of years ago on the ST3s.
The bike gets used as when I feel like it rain/snow or shine and she looks mint......the bike that is

  15. The Multi 1000 gets used until it starts getting icy. Don't fancy ending up on my arse on black ice. However, as I live in London, it's usually only about one week a year that I can't ride.

  16. Like a Ducati version of the Honda Transalp using the 695 air cooled motor?

  17. Mine gets used all year round, can be a pricey choice on a 749 but a fun one

  18. Both Ducati's get sorned at the end of September but the Divi is road ready all year, I have Raynauds disease so need the heated grips, could do with the heat from seat from the 749 at times. Tend to only ride on dry days nowadays, I've had some brilliant rides in December and January. I've done the all year round, sole form of transport, all weather, defrosting of hands on the pots stuff and now I'm in a position I don't have to, so I don't. Both bikes get stripped down for a thorough clean, liberal dose of ACF 50 then wintered with ocassional use of optimiser periodically. 749 sits it out in the dining room.

  19. I don't like the idea of putting the bike away for the winter, doesn't do 'em any good. So I'll ride 'em all year round as long as it isn't raining or snowing. I bloody hate rain with a passion:mad:

  20. And you live in England ???
