  2. Hi porty
I’m CEV with two adults in the house both working I’m shielding we just strict social distance in the house as much as we can.
i believe the 70’s are on their way to being vaccinated here I was included in the 75’s and over I’m 53
I’m vaccinated the kids aren’t, there is no data to say that I will get immunity due to Myeloma
Daughter works in supermarket my boy network rail both companies know about my illness and try to mitigate risk as much as they can to protect me

  3. You get one of these cards and the leaflet.

  5. We’ve not seen, other than by zoom and FaceTime, our Scottish contingent (#1 son, d-i-l, grandsons x2) since February last year :(

#2 son and family are in Leeds and we saw them a few months ago when we all went for a socially distanced walk together in the countryside close to their house. :(

  6. As far as I am concerned it is a farce.

I am in the extremely clinically vulnerable group.

In the cold weather I can't even go outside for a few minutes because my chest instantly gets tight to the point I can hardly breathe.

I have been shielding for over a year now (despite that I got a really bad case of pneumonia in the summer) and that means I haven't been anywhere near the hospital for cancer treatement for over a year either.....

    ....I know, it's a gamble I have to take.

Around here, the NHS are in charge of the mass vaccination centres. GP Federation deal with the smaller venues.

The NHS know I am at risk as do my GPs.

Out of the blue, during the start of the cold weather, I get a call from the hospital advising me I have a vaccination appointment available on a certain day at the hospital.......A day when it is below freezing and loads of people are queuing outside......No thanks.

However, because I could get no advice from my GP Practice; I contacted the GP Federation.....they tell me I can't have the Pfizer vaccine because of a previous anaphylactic reaction to a drug and various allergies. That means I have to have the Oxford one....the GP Federation have referred it back to my GP Practice.

The hospital would have given me the Pfizer one.....!!!

I also have a letter from the NHS saying I would be contacted by my GP Practice.

Heard nothing from my GP Practice.

Having read this topic, I am beginning wonder if I should avoid the Oxford vaccine too....and just stay indoors.

  7. Viv, are there any plans for you to have a antigen test after your 2nd jab? to see how much, if any, antibodies you created?

  8. This must be why i've been offered one at 65 years old then as i'm a sole Carer, I did wonder. I wouldn't want to be the one doing the calculations and deciding the jabbing order - it's a DIYDo/DIYDont scenario.

  9. Im going to ask at my next appointment
Some areas do antibody testing others don’t

  12. There we go worry for nothing porty :)

  13. Leave a little time just in case you get stopped and questioned as we were on Sunday. No hassle, nothing nasty, just a polite question but after you fumble for your face mask, wind the window down and have a friendly chat, added 10 minutes to the journey. Andy

  14. its interesting that you may have ended up with pfizer, a lot of consent for patients relies on their memory of past events. The increased risk shouldn't mean you cant have it though, just that there is an increased risk. I think the pfizer one is more effective from what I can gather.

  15. Where did you get stopped. I bloody wish I was stopped, it would show some controls are in place here. I have not been stopped once having driven, legally, several thousand miles and many journeys since last May?

  16. When I had my Pfizer, the nurse said there was a fair few exceptions with it for those who can’t / shouldn’t have it

  17. Driving an English registered car in a Welsh seaside town. Absolutely right and proper that I should be asked to justify being there. The officer was fine and clearly relieved I was chilled about it which I suspect some people he tried to speak to were not. Andy
