So who's confirmed for WDW 2014, and what are your plans?

Discussion in 'WDW 2014' started by nuttynick, Dec 10, 2013.

  1. Do you have the URL of flyridefly, I can't find anything via Google and am interested.
    Thanks

  2. Finally got around to booking my hotel. I found this place Podere del Germano Reale in Rimini. Just under £100 a night from Thursday to Monday morning. Secure parking is what did it for me. Anybody been there before? Good scores on trip advisor :)

  4. Dont want to sound like a pretentious fart, but WDW is near so many centers of art and history. Urbino, Gubbio, Perugia, the list goes on and on. I am going to take an extra few days and visit as many of these places as I can. After coming so far it would be a waste not to.

  5. Whats the deal with the stop over in Gallarate ?

  6. Good point. Italy is absolutely littered with lovely towns, palaces, basilicas, castles and iconic architecture, much of it up to 2000 years old. And many of those are stuffed with paintings, sculptures, frescos and fountains. You could spend a year, never mind a few days.

  7. I love Urbino - intended to do a ride out from Cattolica to Urbino last time but didn't quite get around to it. Maybe this year. My previous visits to Le Marche have involved hiring crappy little cars and thinking I wish I was on my bike on the roads round Urbino.

    The deal with Gallarate (just north of Milan) is that it's the home of the 100HP Club, a Ducati owners club (formerly an official Desmo Owners Club, though I think they declared independence last year after Ducati introduced changes to how they want the Desmo Owners Club system to work). UKMOC has links with 100HP as one of the UKMOC grew up in that area and has friends there, so UKMOC Italian jaunts (e.g. for the Milan bike show) generally involve Wednesday night pizza and beer with the 100HP crowd.

  8. Yeah, stuffed indeed :biggrin:
    On my way down, im kinda tempted to ride to Geneva :tongue:

  9. The Large Hadron Collider, fantastic though it is, is not really a tourist attraction. You do realise there is nothing to see?

  11. I think I prefer saying that I've been to Bologna and toured Emilia Romagna..........

  12. If a chance of a van to carry kit pans out, I may take my Pantah to WDW. I rode my F1 to the factory and that was about as comfy, how hard can it be!

    Although that was nearly 20 years ago and I was a lot younger and fitter!

  14. Ha!! :biggrin::tongue:

  15. Bologna is a beautiful old city with many fine buildings & sculptures, plus the most ancient university in Europe. Well worth a visit, quite apart from the Ducati factory nearby.

  16. I do want to visit WDW, but for me the journey there (and back) and riding round the Northern Apennines for a few days with like minded folk is really something to relish. A mixture of good ........food, wine, culture, scenery, bike riding and company. What could be better.

  18. Come along then. Get a hotel booked up in Rimini. I plan on taking a four days to get there, with some good steady riding. Nothing crazy. The journey back will have to be a day shorter and I have to get back to work :tongue:
