Got the bits they sold me under the seat, just keep forgetting to nip in there. My rear brake doesn't seem too bad now it's been bled. If I mash it, I feel it pulsing and slowing me down so that must be the ABS kicking in. Not seeing an ABS light though and the 'pulsing' feels mechanical and almost grindy?!? Makes a noise too?
I now suffer the front brake issue,2013my 14000 miles. Substantial bleeding from the master cylinder brings back great feel and power for a week, then squidgy again. Sorry to,sound like an idiot, and trying not to look at the 5 pages so far, but will the new banjo bolts and washers on the ABS unit cure the front brake or rear only,I'm slightly confused as I think the brakes have some sort of linked system?
Not linked but they run off the same abs unit. Bleed nipples on both front and rear hoses at the abs unit would allow you to bleed front and rear brakes.
I thought that in touring and urban mode,if you apply the front brake,a little rear is automatically applied too?
"Apply a little pressure to the rear brake" on a multistrada will just cause the bike to burst out laughing. A heavy stamp on the rear brake pedal may get it to lock up on a surface made from ice covered in diesel and Teflon.
Mine won't lock but it'll slow me & the pedal will kick back at me. Not sure if that's right or not. Figured it was the ABS. Isn't there meant to be an abs light come on when it's working though?
Will have to get a fellow multi rider to take mine up the road and stamp on the rear. Feels funny when the lever (quite forcefully) kicks your foot back.
There is no need to fit a bleed nipple at the abs pump for the front circuit, you would simply be wasting your money / time. The master cylinder is higher than it, so any air migrates up to the master. This cannot happen with the rear circuit, as the abs pump is the highest point. That is why it needs bleeding at this point. If I stand on my rear pedal I can lock the rear brake, not with clutch out though this is with a brew bo series oro disk and hh pads, and bled with rbf600 fluid. Think of it as having a bit more engine braking when you need it.
Dear all. I have had the pleasure of riding the new 2015 DVT model. What a great front brake it is too. Now I am thinking we should not have to tolerate our problem with the front brakes at all. I love all the ducatis I have had, and am not a trouble maker nor a difficult customer. However these bikes are weapons. Super fast when you want, and should have the brakes to stop the bike too. It seems we are quite numerous with the same problem. So I am thinking if we join forces and make ourselves stronger we should make Ducati UK aware of our position. These bikes are premium bikes from a premium brand, and I'm sure that this quality of braking is not inline with premium sports bikes performance. It's not only the brakes which are affected ,no by having such unpredictable braking it can upset the skyhook DSS and ABS too. So please can you put your names down if you are happy for us to try and sort this problem together. I feel that Ducati do listen, they have made very sensible changes or improvements to the DVT ,together we can do it!
Sorry, but I don't understand what point you are making here. You seem to be implying that you are in some way dissatisfied with the DVT braking system - is that so? What are you saying is wrong with it? In what way do you say it ought to be improved? I'm all for correcting problems and making improvements, but in this instance I have no idea what you're on about.
Did you mean to say front brake or rear brake? Most riders are very happy with the front brake, with only a handful upgrading to M4 or M50 monoblocs.
Sorry you have misunderstood me. I own a 2013 MTS skyhook. I was comparing the lovely front brake on the new 2015 DVT against my crappy affair.
I still can't understand what you're on about. The 2010-2014 models have been discontinued and are no longer in production. The 2015 DVT is the current model, and you seem to be happy with that. So are you saying that Ducati should travel back in time and correct the supposed shortcomings of earlier discontinued models? Sounds like fantasy land to me.
