The air must come from boiling bubb The air MUST come from boiling bubbles from the master being so close to the hot cat exhaust. We can't all have leaking hoses.
Yeah. That is worth checking. I just wonder how to test it? I will put my vacuum bleeder on it next month and see if it is sucking in small amounts of air..
OK, so what about if you have no cat - are people still experiencing problems? If that's it then everyone is wasting time with bleeding and should instead be insulating!
Has anyone tried a different rear master cylinder ? or does anyone know what would fit with out having to modify mounting or brake lines ?
For what it's worth, a new Ducati rear m/cyl costs £45.50 + vat (£54.60). Still the same part number since day one I believe. If you've got a good relationship with your dealer then they might get Ducati to pay for a new one (as an act of goodwill) as it's a well known fault since 2010 - even though it's well out of warranty. If you don't ask.......
On my 2011 Multi the original rear master cylinder and hose was replaced with a slightly modified version in 2012, free of charge as an update issued by Ducati. I'm not suggesting the replacement was any better - but it is not the same part. Original part number - 625.4.031.1A Later part number - 625.4.031.1B
Pete is right, there was an update. It changed the piston size, hose bore, and the angle of hose attachment. I believe they also changed fluid type. I have no cat, rbf 600 fluid, the afftermarket heat shield behind the master cylinder, additional bleed nipples, and the rear brake still goes away after 1000 or so miles  For me the only solution would be to relocate the master cylinder. That or a thumb lever. One further thought. The non abs bikes didn't suffer as bad with this, but did still have issues too.
With all the issues, i'm tempted to remove the tracker and leave it parked overnight in an unsavoury location... then again if the thieves know their bikes, they'll just leave it be.
