Ha ha, yeh it was a nice size, we had a robotic mower that did the grss but the hedges took me about a week eac
Apart from the Ducati days, I haven’t done a UK track day for years because none of my track bikes passed the noise test. My 748RS scraped through at Mallory so I started going to Spain instead. You can read in past posts on here the concessions made to the 1199 and 1299. These are the limits currently on the MSV tracks Brands, 102 dB(A) (101 night time), 98 dB(A) drive-by Oulton, 102 dB(A), 92dB(A) drive-by Cadwell, 105dB(A) Snetterton, 102 dB(A), 92 dB(A) drive-by Bedford, 101 dB(A), 87.5 dB(A) drive-by Donington, 98 dB(A) drive-by, still has unsilenced days. Did it last year with No Limits & will be looking at doing it again this year....track is awesome!! As previously stated, no issues with carnet as long as you have V5 etc, we did three euro days via van over the last two years, only ever looked in the back of the van once, going out on Euro tunnel, no issues then, border control looked in the van, said "track bikes & tools" & shut the door!! Regarding noise, my mate has a V4 Pani, running Akra system, passed noise with baffles fitted, no problem at all!! The noise meters do work on track, as if you're over, your number comes up on various light boards & you have to go into the pits. I was running a R1M with a Seton system with no baffles, no issues at all!! I will be running a V4 Pani with Akra this year & don't anticipate any issues as long as baffles are fitted. One thing to be aware of, the track is run by DG Sports, a Germany outfit, no problems with them at all......however, they don't have sighting laps, so it's full speed from the off & if you're new to the circuit the first few sessions can be "interesting" to say the least!!
Im fully aware of the limits thanks mate, I’ve been on about 80 trackdays in the last 3 years all over the place, my point was your noise limits were wrong! I’ve never had a problem with noise on the standard cans even blowing 105db at Snett and Oulton, as you say they still let you out.
That’s good to hear. Did they still do noise testing just relaxed? Interesting about no sighting laps, seems a bit crazy! Will book inters and see how I get on then.
Noise testing was quite relaxed, didn't really take much notice of the 8000rpm setting, but as I said, they do monitor you & if you trip the ride by they will have you in. We were horrified about the no sighting laps, but the faster guys gave us room & the track is so big there are loads of places to pass. We were up to speed by dinner, so no worries really! It's an awesome track .... definitely recommend it. We're looking at doing the August one this year.
Funnily enough, this just cropped up https://www.facebook.com/groups/trackdayaddicts/permalink/6692485604100733/?app=fbl
DGsport who run all the Spa bike events are Belgium and not German. Sighting laps are not the norm over here in Belgium or Germany. I’m organisers do it through fear of litigation should a rider/driver crash on circuit and then claim they were not aware of where the track goes or what the track condition was like. Out here you’ve signed the disclaimer so it’s at your discretion wether to get hard on the gas as you’ve just pulled the warmers off, or to bring yourself upto pace over a few laps. Even on events that have sighting laps some poor souls still crash. on the whole though DGsport run good events. At lunchtime take the time to go check the timesheets as they will move people about if they see you are in the wrong group. Saves finding out when you go for the next session to find you should have been in the previous or next group.
Sorry I got the nationality wrong. You're correct, DG Sports run a good track day, couldn't fault them. The timing thing is great, we should do it over here...... definitely safer putting people who are similar pace together in groups instead of people booking what's available even if they are too fast/slow for that group.
