  2. As you overnight on Sunday 10th appears to be in Meadow Road in Beeston, you are within easy walking distance of The Victoria Hotel. The Victoria is a nice old pub that always has a good range of proper beers & cider, and also serves good food.

  3. Sounds like a great route but you'll be knackered without a day off in the middle! Or at least I would be :)

  4. Thanks for the tip, for sure I'll try the food and some beer :)

Yep, I know... :s but finally I decided to get as much as possible from this experience... I've also planned quite a lot of stops, take photos and videos (I think I'm going to get broke buying memory cards!)... I'll mount the stock handlebar too, the idea of doing this journey with the Tomaselli's was a bit crazy.
Anyway, I think I'll need a couple of days in bed before going back to work! hehehe :)

  5. You'll go past my work on Sunday 10th on the way though Chesterfield. I'll give you a wave if I'm staring aimlessly out of the window.

  6. You'll hear me approaching... :smirk:

  7. What Wally said from Ullapool. There's a left turn by Drumrunie, north out of Ullapool, which takes you on a single track road past Loch Lurgain to Lochinver and this is superb for views, but single track, very winding and incredibly slow. Worth doing if weather is good. Nice pies in Lochinver.

If you want wild, there's an unclassified road down the side of Loch Hope which takes you to Altnaharra, rather than go to Tongue.

For Portree to Ullapool, if you have time at Kinlochewe, turn left and take the Wester Ross coastal trail, through Gairloch to Dundonnel and Corrishalloch instead. I reckon about two hours form here and a better route. Although both are OK and your route is faster.

  8. I've managed to include the options you mentioned on my route, those roads look great! (and also a bit scaring!)

  9. Just two days left for the beginning of my journey!
Here you can see the "tourism transformation" I've done to the s4r. Much more comfortable, much more room for luggage...
Everything is ready and I'm pretty nervous... hopefully I'll be able to understand native English speakers and the other way around!

  10. wow,, those boys know their roads, and country..

  11. glad you are not wasting time going up throo france,,,,,hope you get some decent weather as that can make a big difference up here... the natives in scotland ( the scottish :) ) mostly speak english... enjoy.

  12. Maybe a little late to change but I completely agree with this.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy your visit.

  13. I had also included this tip on my route, so I'm glad to hear you agree with him [emoji4]

  14. Have a fab trip

  15. Thanks! I'm sure I'll enjoy it, you've given me great tips!
I'll try to keep this post updated daily with my experiences, tomorrow I'll get into the ferry! (Aren't my nerves obvious?!)

  16. On Day 2, personally, I'd go via the Old Severn Bridge and Chepstow. It's only a tiny bitbof motorway, quite a scenic bridge and then as you leave Chepstow head up to Monmouth via the Wye Valley. One of my favourite rides! Wishing you sunny weather and an awesome, safe ride!!

  17. ....It's signposted as M48 to Chepstow....

  18. Thanks! but... that's the way I've already planned, isn't it? (check link below)

  19. No, the map I see has you going through Gloucester. (Unless I'm not seeing the correct route) Replace Gloucester with Chepstow as a way-point and you'll be good!

  20. OH! Now I see it! :) I was looking at your link on my phone and the Google Map app must have changed your route. It looks good now I see it on my computer!
