@David Rae let me know what you have and I'll add them to the database. FYI All, Link to database is here, to save going back to the first post. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1njZ4CLXm3VyUFK4xc_H9Zt9u9TQL44Yjcw7G8PCndqY/edit?usp=sharing
Pity Oxford Motorcycle engineers were cuckoo'd out of the nest. I bought my Pantah there in 82 and subsequently exchanged shims with eddie and oliver over the years i owned and shimmed it, Their one day course on maintenance was brilliant too. I recall the many thousands of shims they had piled up in the workshop, wonder where they are now/
7mm 3.15 opener now changed for 3.10 opener. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1njZ4CLXm3VyUFK4xc_H9Zt9u9TQL44Yjcw7G8PCndqY/edit#gid=0
Yes me too. Getting Oliver to send anything quickly was a task! One day he put 2 shims in a DL envelope! I got an envelope with 2 holes in it! Still got the course notes somewhere too. Wish they were still on the go too, the current dealers leave a lot to be desired in comparison. Although I have eventually landed good.
I was aware that the "R" models have a different shims from the others using tapered collets instead of half rings. I didn't know that they had 6mm valve stems though. The 749/999 and 749S/999S however, are all 7mm with the same part numbers across both base model and "S" versions.
Sorry, I beg to differ, the S versions use the same taper collets as the R. I've just rebuilt one from a 2004 S Derek. They are indeed 6mm too.....
Must be your parts list Derek, defo 749S with 6mm valves. I had to make the tool to preload the torque setting during installation, 9Nm or so iirc.
How odd. I checked the parts lists for 999, 999S and 999R. Only the R differed. Maybe only the case for the 749S.
Would any members have some 8mm closing shims - I need the following: 5.90, 6.05, 6.30 and 6.50 I do have the ones on the bike and happy to donate or exchange - 6.40 (x 2), 6.15 and 6.65. £25 each seems crazy from Ducati. Thanks
