Regularly spaced lampposts equals 30mph limit, unless posted otherwise. I learned that on my speed awareness course : o )
What’s with the reference to 50mph? Were you driving a van? The National Speed Limit for cars and motorbikes on a Dual Carriageway is 70mph, unless it’s in an Urban Area when it’s 30mph. If at variance from this it must be signed at start of that limit (Gateway) and with repeater signs if long enough to need them. You can tell it’s an Urban Area if it has a system of street lighting. The Legislation even defines the threshold number and spacing that constitutes a “system”. Traffic Signs Manual - Chapter 3 ‘restricted roads (sections 81 and 82 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984), which are those roads with a speed limit of 30 mph by virtue of the presence of a system of street lighting (carriageway lighting in Scotland) where lamps are placed not more than 200 yards (183 metres) apart (185 metres in Scotland)’
That’s not a very low speed. That’s far too fast in a 30mph zone. No ifs no buts. I think you got off lightly IMO.
Your all missing the point as usual,as and when you see or enter a dual carriageway you must hit the afterburners.
They have to sign it where it changes from the defaults, otherwise the defaults apply? The gateway is usually a pair of signs, one on each side of the carriageway, not your drive gate unless you own Kent!
Do we know a man in south london with a angle grinder I received a speeding fine back in 2012 by a fixed camera and i did play dirty then...............& walked free.
We do know a guy with an angle-grinder but he cannot be trusted with it. What if he cuts through to the Earth's mantle?
On the other hand, there's nice people and nice prices at International. @portboy knows nothing of cryptic. Paugh.
