Had to do it, because there was a crack in the fairing lowers which was present when I got the bike. I did a decent repair on it but couldn't match the red paint (faded and probably not OEM); then right next to the repair I did, another unseen crack opened up.......So I repaired it better than before and then didn't even attempt to match the red knowing the bother I had last time.
Stickers....... Well, I wasn't sure if the OEM pattern of silver with a gold outline would look right on the white band. I didn't want to spend a fortune on say, Image Works making them for me if I was only going to rip them off five miniutes later.....That's also a reason why I didn't lacquer over them. I got these from Motostars......in fact I got two versions by fluke. The first pair were damaged by Royal Mail, so he made another pair using a different method after I had discussed it with them. The ones that are fitted are layered, IE silver laid on gold......that makes them double thick and should really be lacquered over, but as said earlier, I'm not sure about the silver..........however, because they are layered, I could peel the silver off leaving them all gold instead.....(which what was on the red panels before I painted them). .....I just need to make my mind up!
Here's my '99 900SS just picked her up a couple of days ago, my first ever Ducati. Only 2,575 miles on the clock. Totally standard. All I'm going to do is put some oval carbon cans on her and a carbon tank protector to get rid of the silly rubber one. Otherwise I'll keep her standard
Just awaiting the last touches from BBB (he's made me a wonderful clock surround and the SL hangers) and we are good to go
