Thanks for the positive comments. This one shares the garage with my 996 trackbike and 749s. I had a 900ssie last year which was a great bike but, sold it to fund the 749. Love the look of these and loved to 2v engine on the road. No history, I bought it from the widow of the previous owner through a third party, so I don't want to go asking for the history. It's done just under 29,000, and appears stock save for the usual airbox mod and the hideous cans. Basically it's a nice unmolested example, a bit crusty under the fairings but that's it. i was looking for a project, but this ones too nice to cut up, so I might move it on.
My fave picture of Redbike from this year. Enjoy My favourite picture of my 900ss from this year It's been my screensaver for 3 months now! just thought I'd share
It's the ever elusive 800SS / 1000DS 37010311A I was lucky to hear about an 800SS (think they only had that swingarm for one year - not 100% on that) being broken and got in quick with an offer for the swingarm.
Did you spot your case saver? Must have been a Mk1  27th October 006 by Lindsay fae Angus, on Flickr
Lol I did! One of the very first ones methinks? Steve B has the same on his 888 Mine (#001 lol) is in the dining room now having been retired, was replaced by a Mk.2 (2mm thick, thinner guideplate) and now a Ti one (coz they are the Sex) Tidy swingarm tho! Straight bolt-on? Same shock angle etc?
My new 900SS No rear hugger, no rev counter (Monster engine), butchered chain adjuster, leaking OS fork seal, stupid stickers and drilled clutch cover, well worn back tyre, no warning lights :frown:, but it pulls like a train and sounds great!
Who are "ast ikes"? Are they Finnish?? I jest... I have pics of the rear half-fairing mount plate if you need them? Just an alloy plate with two bends? Also have pics of the plastic under-brace? I does like a good project bike, I hate mine when it gets quirky & characterful, then bored when its running ok and I have nothing to do? Passing thought - would the Monster motor have fittings for all the same idiot lights etc? May not be fitted/plugged in lol
In fact think I might do the belts, check the valve clearances then get out on it for a bit to find any other problems, then work on it over the long cold winter on a very tight budget.
Nothing to do apart from ride it! Today was clear out the shed day and haul the Ducati in day, will check out warning light stuff soon hopefully, at least it's in a lit shed with a heater now and I took the belt covers off today, belts looked ok but will fit new ones. Early night tonight, speak to you later.
