Thank you Pete, have been looking at the limited exhaust options with exactly what you have suggested in mind, will look into it a bit more and make the plans for when the scottish summer arrives on a wed afternoon in late July.
I come late to the conversation (as usual) and I have three Ducatis including an ST2 and ST3. The ST3 was bought last year with Ducati Performance chip, exhaust and filter. I rate it very highly - both for town work and country lanes, motorways - well, everything. I can't fault it and would not need anything quicker on UK roads. if you are not happy with yours than I would look for a Ducati Specialist to make sure that it is running properly and consider exhausts, air filter and chip. In Somerset there is Lougi Moto but dunno about Scotland. I think that one mistake that you can make is to expect lots of torque at low revs. The point on Desmodromic is that it like revs!
