St4 radical project

Discussion in 'Builds & Projects' started by PHILLIPO, Aug 18, 2012.

  1. Make one, see what you think - it's your bike after all. If nothing else it'll keep you busy now the bike's done...

  2. +1 with iceman. What tank is that (sorry if it says in thread)

  3. It's a radical Ducati carbon tank. Mont juice I think they call it. Lol

  4. Personally,I think it looks like a right shed!...Seriously,it looks the bollox.I reckon I would fit a bellypan, you could always try it and see.Nice one:upyeah:

  5. Ooh arr,not keen on those invisible discs!

  6. Why? There very economical. Lol

  7. I'm at the stage now where I need to tune or adjust the running. As you can probably tell I really don't have a clue how to adjust the mixture on a Ducati. Can anyone help or point me in the right direction. I've read a bit about tps but there wasn't much info on how to actually do it.

  8. Ask nelly (Neil) about tps setting, he posted up how to do it, in a clear format, on another forum some time ago.

CJS is near you, give Chris a try.

  9. Very, very nice. I love the Radical's and that paint is awesome. And the exhaust looks perfect with it - you should be proud of a job done to a very high standard.

It'd look great with 5 spokes and a silver speedymoto clutch cover in the same 5 spoke pattern as the wheels.

  10. Thanks TP#12, You'll never guess what wheels I have ready to go on.

  12. I bought a battery ages ago which I think is a lithium jobby. I can't remember where I got it from but was wondering how these batteries get charged. There's a funny plug connector on it too. Can it be connected to a optimate or is there a special charger for these things.
sorry having problems attaching pictures ill try again later.

  13. You have to be careful. I bought a new trickle charger for mine which specifically had lithium listed as they fry them otherwise (I was told)

  14. I've got an Odyssey on the Radical Pantah, nice and light and you can charge it with an Optimate.

  15. Never use a trickle charger with a LiFePO4 battery, only use the correct type of charger with the little block connectors. You can use specifically designated trickle chargers with lithium hydride batteries but not with lifepo4 types. If you do, you can have a serious fire and you don't one of these going up in flames as the fluorine content can give off fumes that will burn your lungs to shreds from the inside. Get a proper shorai charger from carrot cycles. Also you have to be careful not to earth or totally flatten lifepo4 batteries, it kills them dead, so no earth kill switch to kill the ignition. They are superb batteries but need a whole different mindset to use them safely and effectively.

  16. You're not supposed to use a charger which has a de-sulphate mode.

The small plug is for balance charging. You can pick up cheap chargers specifically for these types of batteries, like the Turnigy Accucel, pretty cheap, much cheaper than the £100 or so Optimate lithium charger!

I just give mine a quick blast with a simple car charger for 10 or 15 minutes!

  17. Thanks for the info guys. I would of left it on charge over night and blown a hole in my garage ceiling. My bedrooms above the garage too. Lol
ive picked up some 848 mirrors with indicators and side lights built in of MADASL. So I'm going to shape the spacer to fit the fairing and then spray them black to match the rear seat section. I also need to make a small bracket which will fit inside the fairing to strengthen the area.

  18. Back on the project after re building the wife's daytona. New chain and sprockets fitted. Found a tail tidy kicking around the garage. Going to fit a plate to cover the hole in the rear of the frame and mount the tail tidy to it.
