Had a nightmare with the mirrors. All I can say is if you own a 848 or 1098 and want to take your mirrors apart. Don't remove the retainer clip. I did and then had to smash the mirror to get the clip back on doh!
Made a tail tidy today with the help of the guy's next door. Just got to try it for size tonight and spray it mat black.
Tail tidy fitted in a treat and hides all the wiring. Mirrors mounted too. So a bit of wiring up and spraying and mot here we come.
Mounted the mirrors today with metal strengthening brackets behind the fairing. Starting to tidy up all the wireing now ready for mot.
Getting there now. All the lights are now working. Just got a small fuel leak to sort out from the fuel pump housing. Wheels and tires fitted to. Just need some sun now to get it mot ed.
An incredible project,we are very fortunate to have seen the birth of this right here.I wonder what the bike weighs,I bet I will go like the proverbial, could be difficult to keep the front down,is the gearing standard?cant wait for the road test report.
Thanks for the kind words. Don't know how much it weighs but it's a doddle to move around. The gearing is standard at the moment but I do have a 14 tooth front sprocket to try when the sun comes out.
Trying not to be too arrogant(which is very hard being half French ) I reckon if you went up 2 or 3 teeth on the rear it would be stunning, very responsive and could even be flickable with all that weight loss.
Having tried both gearing options on my ST i would recommend the 42 tooth rear rather than the 14 front, or possibly both !!
I agree it gives a much smoother transmission by changing the rear sprocket and not the front one, think I've got 42 teeth on the rear.
When I had my ST4s I preferred the standard gearing. I've actually got a rear sprocket fitted from a multistrada which I used the a centric hub from. Not sure what number of teeth are on it tbh. I'm not after top end speeds more controllable rev range in the twists. So really until I try it, with the reduced weight I'm not sure how it will perform. Won't be long though.
Its gonna go like the proverbial ...you simply must show this at next years Bike shed show, which was this weekend, you're bike would fit in just perfectly.
Sorted all the bits and bobs out today. Locked myself away in the garage till the weather improves. It's now ready. Two years in the making and at last it's ready.
Awesome build man! REALLY well done. A total credit to you. My next project is a 1198S Chassis/1100evo Motor/Rad tank and tail and your build has been absolutely invaluable to me. Thanks so much for sharing.
