GT in Plymouth. I'd like to state that they came and picked my bike up within a few hours of me reporting the issue, and had it all sorted out within a few more hours. They've been pretty decent, once past the initial suggestion that it might have been my fault. It would have been fair enough if it was.
Good on them for sorting. I ask because I would be furious if they blamed me, they should know that all modern bike chargers are user friendly and cannot be rigged up wrong. When my bike is under warranty I expect zero fuss with any issues that's all.
Believe me, I was absolutely furious after speaking to them on the phone, but once I was in the shop it was all resolved - common sense prevailed.
Yes, all good thanks. Wheelies really easy in second too...! Actually, spent the evening at a mate's house, an electronics engineer. He confirmed that my charger won't work if wired the wrong way to the battery, and that all is fine otherwise. He's also going to help me wire up a USB outlet from the 12v connector near the headstock, as well as add an auxiliary fuse box under the seat that I can run multiple accessories off. I'm doing a touring trip in August, so want to run a few extras - charging my phone and satnav, run an air bed pump, etc...
hahaha....and 3rd as well  I'd like to install a USB type charger too, as sometimes its useful to charge a phone/bikecam etc. whilst out on a longer journey. Would be interested on how easy it is to do Going anywhere exotic on your trip?
I'll start a separate thread for the USB thing. Heading down to the Alps. Hoping to do the Grossglockner in Austria, then heading down in to Italy, across in to Switzerland, then back up towards home, via the Nurburgring. Should be pretty epic! Better get a new back tyre - I've done just under 900 miles and it's squared off already... Not amused! Maybe a tyre thread too...
Wow Nik - sounds epic. Very jealous. I hope you start a thread showing your progress along the way. Others have done that, and they always make a good read. I'm surprised about your tyre. I've got Pirelli Supercorsa's SP's on my 12R, with 2 track days and over 2800k miles. Theres still a bit of life left in them yet and not squared off.
I'll write something up when I'm back. It's just a quick dash really - bit of an adventure, just me and a tent. In the mean time, I need to cut out the traffic light grand prix starts, and ham-fisted wheelies past unimpressed pretty girls at bus stops...
I've a similar issue on my S4. But it doesn't matter if it hot or cold, I'm thinking it is solenoid or starter motor as I've installed a new battery on the bike. Power is getting to the solenoid and to the starter motor, but sometimes it is just really reluctant to kick over.
Have you checked the battery terminals too? My money is on the starter solenoid - maybe get a secondhand spare off ebay, as it might be a cheap fix, or at least something you can easily rule out.
