1200 Stolen Multistrada Alert

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Multi rider, May 8, 2014.

  1. What scum, sorry to hear some b'stards made off with your bike. Mine's also in London and I had to have a tracker fitted (BikeTrac) in order to get insurance. I've always been dubious about such things however it impressed me and I'd recommend fitting one now. Manufacturers should be fitting this type of equipment as standard, at their production levels the BoM effect would a minor rounding error.

    Hope you get yours back.

  2. :( Multi R,
Really sorry to hear about the loss of your bike, it destroys any faith in human nature and it can easily bring out the worst side in many of us, looking for revenge!! :Sour:
Like others here I sincerely hope you get the bike back, however, as is often the case, they are frequently 'stolen to order' simply because some thieving bastard won't pay the right price the right way :Vomit:

:Arghh: Try to keep positive my friend, even in the face of such adversity.:Depressed:

  3. God. I haven't had any of that for decades!

  4. Folks thanks a million for the support! Really really appreciate it....as you can imagine my emotions fluctuate between anger, self pity, self recrimination hate, anger etc etc

Did the insurance claim thing today and have to wait 2 weeks in case the Police find it....not sure I want them to anymore....could come back in a bad bad way....

peed of with myself that I left it on the road instead of bringing it into the garage immediately, but then again I was going to go out again so who would do that....

Have started monitoring ebay and auto trader for my bike....jeez I want to catch these guys soooo bad!

Anyway enough rambling....thanks guys for your help and postings...would apprciate it if you could keep your eyes open at your local biker haunts! Black bash plates should narrow it down and the silver belt cover!

  5. I held the supermarket door open for an old lady today -does that count?

  6. scum .......i lost a blade several years ago they smashed my garage to bits to get it ...bastards ..when i get a new bike will have a trakker fitted ..
police must be able to trace the index that your neighbour gave them ? more work should be done at ports how long does it take to look in the back of a van ffs!

  8. Sorry to hear some nonce has his mits on it.
My next door neighbour at my old address had his bike stolen off the road from outside the house and his insurance refused to pay. Apparently it was insured as "garaged" when at his address, so they declined settlement as it breached policy. Hopefully that's not a precedent, as they are worming mongrels when it comes to dipping their hand into their pocket.

  9. Also sorry to hear that, unlucky... I just think that if someone wants to steal your bike it will be eventually stolen...

For "garaged" policy when at home address, I think that it is only valid between specific times usually 21:00 to 06:00 and not for all day long.

Hope you will get paid put soon and get another one!

  10. This is exactly what I am afraid of! My policy is also garaged.... But as I said I only temporarily left the bike on the street as I was having my tea. Let's hope sense prevails and that the insurance pays. Otherwise I will be calling the ombudsman so quickly to complain.

  11. You should not be afraid.

You just need to be careful with your wording and also read your policy 'small letters'.

The 'garaged' policy is usually not valid if you park your bike overnight out of the garage not temporarily.

Hope everything will be sorted out for you as soon as possible!

  12. Most "garaged" policies are "timed" as previously posted (10pm until 7am for example) and if within a certain distance from the registered address (I think it is 1/2 mile normally?) - you should be fine if taken during the day?

  13. @ Multi rider :Sorry I forgot to say that it was indeed at night it got stolen. Apologies as after re reading my post it certainly does nothing but add to the anxiety you must already be feeling, it was not my intent. Need to work on my delivery :Banghead:

  14. Sorry to hear this.

London and the SE is a hot bed of motorcycle theft as the bikes are in a van and across the channel within a few hours.

  19. There are always exceptions. (Pat yourself on the back now - you nice person you. :))
Sadly human nature seems to be that littering is OK, as is gaining any advantage you can at someone else's expense. For some people, that means theft, for others it's just "you snooze, you lose".
We're all rats in a rat race.

  20. Well folks still no bike, but I came across this clip and I suppose I should be grateful that I live in the UK. If I had been in my home country South Africa It may have gone something similar to this.
