Stoner to retire

Discussion in 'Racing & Bike Sport' started by bigleggy3, May 17, 2012.

  1. Sadly not original, though. Doohan used it years ago.

  2. Yep spent a bit of time on my arse sliding into what gravel tracks we have at uk race circuits!
Come to think of it most of the lesser circuits i raced at are bloody dangerous!
But you get back out there "For the love of the sport"
I know TP12 will confirm this :upyeah:

  3. I wish we could get back to old SIC thread post accident. I remember the conversation about real racers, about how SIC's incident will not affect any of MotoGP riders in long term as real racers have love for the sport and do not quit. It was a general discussion not CS specific but now when he is retiring it just popped in to my head. So he is a real racer that never quits now? I did not hear about any real sports people quitting in their prime unless they were involved in serious incident that affected their ability or worse. Quite frankly many over stay their welcome and fall to the end of the line (kind off like VR).

  4. Even Brigg's is moaning about the stupid rules!!
Ducati have a new engine to bolt in but cant use it!
Usual 8th 9th 10th place this weekend then!

  5. I have never moaned about any of the other racers Full Stop!
Mind you you do seem to have it in for italians! I remember your pop about Supersic when Pedders crashed into him :upyeah:

  6. Derek, Ozz told me why F1 drivers etc live in Switzerland (Well buy a house ).. But the UK Gov have a agreement with the swiss banks to release info......... Another story.
But Aus have not signed up... So you really think CS bought a house in the swiss alps to live in ?
If his accountants are good he will pay zero aus tax and zero in Switzerland!
They all do it......... Deal with it

  7. Feel free to put my moaning in quotes.

  8. Yeah, along with a few others in the GP paddock. Lorenzo chief amongst them. But what does he know?

A list of your Stoner moans

He can't develop a bike. See above for a repeat.
He wanders off sick for no reason
    He is mentally weak
He can't set up a bike
He can't race, only run away at the front
    He has no personality
    Oh and he moans.

I can give you more if you want

For me, the smart guy is the guy who quits before he is dead or injured badly.

  9. One day you will work put the difference between the criminal act of tax evasion and the legal mechanisms of tax avoidance

Here is an amusing and topical guide to help you along

  10. Switzerland is a non topic.

Show me a man who will gladly pay more tax than he could get away with. There ain't many and if i had the means to do so also, i would.

i'm not a Casey fan off of a bike but i would much rather he were around because he is the benchmark and i wanted to see if Cal etc could achieve that also. I suspect many of the other racers have the same opinion as they want to beat the best at any point in time and Casey currently is that man.

He is right in that the Motgp spectacle is fading but losing Stoner is not a death blow. Not sorting out the ludicrous rules will be though. One engine limited mod racing is for feeder classes not for the "ultimate" of your sport. The teams now spend more trying to make their bikes work with a fickle tyre than they did under the old regime of unlimited mods.

  13. I'm 99% sure Stoners Daughter's got suppos eyes

  14. This pic means nothing, those fans are probably the same bunch of Rossi boppers that are currently slating him one week on crash.net in their 1000's for not delivering the racing they expect from their hero and the other half in this pic are no doubt the other lot that make ridiculous 'groupie esc' type comments along the lines of 'he's sandbagging for the race' or 'go go gooooooo Valentino' when he's running around mid pack...... Deluded and childish frankly ;)

  15. At least Rossi's still there, giving it a go.

    No-one likes a quitter...

  16. You see that's the point, IF Casey was racing in 2013 the beloved VR would always be 1 further down the time sheets as he'd never top him.

Ill bet most of the racers in that field will be pissed off Caseys going because they want to beat and be classed as THE BEST, they'll also have that same feeling as too whether they'd of been good enough that day to topple stoner.

Lorenzo, pedders, spies, cal, dovi etc etc all want to race the best on the planet and Casey Stoner is THE best on the planet, those are not just my words but words of the vast majority of neutral jurnos, colomists and ex gp racers. The racers don't turn up every week for a prom queen type popularity contest, they do it to see who's fastest. The prom queen will always be Rossi, let the other boys race.

VR was at some point the best on the planet but I honestly don't think Lorenzo would work up a sweat beating VR in to submission even on the same bike I reckon he'd find it pretty easy going after having to try and match stoner.

The racers will be sad about the talent going, Rossi fans won't be as it once again makes their hero look a little less off the pace.
