No one likes a quitter? I think you'll find that MR VR was trying to quit his contract only a few weeks ago until the lawyers of MR P Morris reminded him of his contractual duties.
In your opinion... And of course, your opinion is as worthless as mine. Get over it. Rossi a prom queen? He must be a bloody good prom queen then, cos he's got nine world titles at it...how many has Moaner got..?
I'm late to the party on this news as always, but if i was in Stoners shoe's with a wife like that and baby too, i'd be retiring too. One thing though, he's either ultra confident he'll win again one last time, really throwing the gauntlet to Lorenzo (this is your last time to beat me fair and square so catch me if you can) or he's smitten with fatherhood and just could not care less? Its a brave move, I'd have been inclined to hold that announcement back until later in the year, but I can see his reasoning and *damn* his confidence too. It certainly opens this season up a bit and every one will want to beat him all the more. I wish him well, Casey sure set the track alight and had me whooping with joy watching him light up the back tire last year ... I wish him and his wife and kid well too. Amazing rider.
Oh yeah, and had this been a Valentino Rossi retirement thread. it would be rolling into about page 99 by now, such is his popularity. Sad to see Casey go, but at the same time must be firing up Lorenzo in particular all the more to just beat him fair and square. Far from being a dampener on the season, saying something like this has given the season ... an otherwise possibly dull season a lot more hope. If I were Lorenzo right now I'd be ramping up from 99% to 99.999 % for the rest of the season. May the best man win, its going to be good .... bring it on.
That right, Rossi is the motogp prom queen. How many titles has Agostini got? Is that relevant? No. Im talking about the present day mate, not history, if you wanna keep talking about the 'good old days' that's fine and each to their own. Facts remain, Agostini has the most titles but is not the fastest rider on the planet. Rossi has a lot of titles but is not the Fastest rider on the planet. Casey Stoner is the fastest rider on the planet and is likely to continue to be...... Get over it
It is speculated in some media that Casey has announced his retirement now because Honda were trying to pressure him into another 2 year deal, so leaked the story, it back fired, and Stoner said F you, and pulled the pin, says to me he has principles and is prepared to stand behind them. Why is Rossi even mentioned in this thread? It's about Casey's retirement, could it be that all the Rossi fanboys who feel the biggest threat to their Lord and Saviors success see another opportunity to raise the profile of the biggest media whore since JC.
Good points mate and I wish the footballer mentality supporting ideology, could go just take a hike. I hate that tribal crap, my teams better than youres, nah nah, utter stupidity. Rossi is and will always be the GOAT, Caseys people skills and I'm sure he has been PR trained are aweful compared to Val ... I'm sure we all have friends who are wankers, but we admire too ... Casey is one of those guys Anyway, he's given it some thought, it wont have been a rash decision, so lets just respect that.
I don't really get the hero worship/villification thing, but my belief is that it is a cultural thing with Casey, not wanting to self promote or take all the credit, hence the "we" thing, he's just a quiet country boy with an extraordinary talent for riding motorcycles, he really enjoys the racing, doesn't like all the testing and hates all the politics and media shit, hes had enough and is leaving on his terms, that takes balls if you ask me, and you didn't, so i'll feck off now.
All far too serious, lets mention Casey's teeth ain't natural again. Casey's going, Vale's staying yeah ! be happy for that cos losing both would have been a major blow ( Major blow wasn't a reference to Suppo and Casey's wife)
With no Stoner who will set the pace.... and from next year no one will know just how fast you can go.... I guess I will just have to wait for the next great chapter in MGP...... Scott Reading
Not sure if this has been mentioned on all the other pages as I haven't got the time to read all the threads so if you've read it....appologies. However I read last night that Casey's new baby daughter was born on Valentino's birthday. The irony of it!
Not surprising Dorna are happy.Le mans FP3. Gap between Casey and 2nd. = 0.48Gap between 2nd and 7th = 0.32.In 7th is of course the greatest 990cc rider of all time.So when Casey goes the racing will be tighter but I still expect Jorge win most years.Interesting to recall the comments made by many VR fans that Jorges title was hollow due to VRs leg break.I wonder what their view is now?
Since we are talking teeth, one pre race interview last year, from the BBC I think? the cameraman had a fixation with Bens teeth (Ben Spies) and I mean camera focused on Bens teeth for the entire interview with Matt Roberts ... I thought it was a bit cruel, but his teeth were white as white can be of course, but they were a bit all over the place motohotties: Ben Spies puts a smile on your face ... and why does Ben always travel the global circuit with his Mum, Mary? Mary Spies on Ben, crashing and being a bad mum - Interviews - Visordown
Yes you could be right! After the latest moan about dorna messing up the series over the years changing the rules. Thankfully one of his team managers reminded him that his employer honda did the changing of rules etc Up to dec 2011. Silence. What a knob.
