Stoner to retire

Discussion in 'Racing & Bike Sport' started by bigleggy3, May 17, 2012.

  1. They are all at the teeth thing. I think it was TP that pointed out John Hopkins seemed to have started the trend.

We know Honda can be pushy hence Rossi leaving them but if Casey only wanted 1 year i think he would have got it rather than leaving. Think he may have burnt some bridges there by giving them the bird should he change his mind.
He's obviously confident he won't but i also wonder if a desire to live solely in Aus might also figure in the decision. All that swiss cheese might give him the heeby jeebies.

  2. About as reasoned as yours. I was just joining in.

  3. Your right. joining in and getting on track and actually racing a bike is what it all about. Not sitting on the sofa eating pasties and being a lazy lounge lizard. Well done to all of the guys (and gals) on the motogp grid.

  4. Cornish Pasties?

  5. Sorry but coming from another country/culture I can tell you that eating some of English pastries is as brave as joining MotoGP grid :D

  6. I got told Dorna were positively dancing about with joy as their current world champion does nothing but bad mouth everyone each time he is on a stage to represent Motogp.

  7. Who told you that then? Any evidence to actually back that up or just further anti stoner pro rossi claptrap?

  8. No doudt the Stoner fans will see this in a different light like they always do!

  9. Breaking news, the lady up the road who's son is married to the hairdresser of a girl who knows this bloke who cuts the grass for an old couple who's grandson goes to college with another guy who's dad knows this fella who's wife overheard some chap saying that apparently Rossi followers are officially classified as deluded and must immediately seek medical help before being sectioned

Quite how true that is I'm not sure but be careful out there boys and remember, keep those dayglo accessories in full view so you can be indentified by the catch wagons ;)

  11. You see, I told you all!

Clearly the man posting above has lost his marbles, it's a clear sign of Rossi-itus which will now develop in to further rants, yellow foaming at the mouth and the uncanny ability to look good in anything dayglo

    Somebody call the ambulance.....Anybody???

    ;)

  12. Nope, that seems to be pretty much everybody's opinion of him which I read in the comments section.

Rossi blaming this, rossi blaming that etc etc boy that Italian can piss n moan

That is unless one of the infected surface from a dayglo groupie induced fever and then I can pretty much guarantee you'll get one of the following posts usually associated with this illness (see crash.net/twitter/bsn/motomatters for reference )

  13. Yes it came from Dave Emmett on the Performance Bikes forum.

  14. Well then I'll have a look on Dave emmetts site and see if I can find it I guess

Not that Dornas position on him retiring changes anything, it dosnt make him slower does it :)

Besides, since when did anybody give a shit what Dorna say, or have all of Dornas failings suddenly become null and void?

  15. If you stick your fingers in your ears and shout 'la la la', it never happened...

  16. I find that makes Stoners interviews more interesting.

What is all this WE had a problem with traffic and WE didn't get a lap etc. Has he got Suppo in the racing hump on his leathers or summit cos i can only see him on the track.

  17. What I don't get is why it's mainly Rossi fans who hate Stoner. Why isn't it possible to adore the one true God whilst still having some understanding and respect for the talent which is Casey Stoner? I know much of the comment on here is just harmless banter, but some of you "race fans" actually believe the bile and vitriol which you spew forth.

I had the good fortune to be in the grandstand on the last turn at Silverstone last year. It was a pretty shitty day with the weather. It was cold, wet, and windy, yet Casey kept banging in one fast lap after another. Sure it wasn't exciting racing, devoid of the fairing bashing and duelling that we all love to watch, but Casey put on a real show. He was sliding the bike out of the final turn on every lap. He never let up even when the race was so convincingly his at half distance. He was just showboating, having a good time, and really showing the rest of the pack how it should be done. When he came round on the last lap I stood up to applaud. Hardly anyone else did. The people applauding were easily outnumbered by the people booing. I couldn't belive the number of brainless dickhead "race fans" who actually booed a guy who had just won the race, in the wet when half the field had crashed out, and he won it by a country mile. The stand erupted when their hero came round a minute later to take the flag. WTF were they actually applauding? I was disgusted.

I'm glad Casey is retiring now, at the top of his game, leaving the other riders to race knowing that one of the fastest guys around isn't competing. I can understand people liking or not liking someone for their personality, we all do it, but to fail to recognise his talent and contribution to the sport just shows your ignorance. I stopped commenting on the MotoGP threads on Ducatisti due to the ridiculous uninformed crap that so many came out with, and it's carried on here just the same, so I'll be refraining from further comments on here. But I really just wanted to say this - I'm sure one of the contributory factors to Casey retiring is the hatred which is directed towards him. It would certainly piss me off to be so dominant on track yet be so publicly slagged off. So there you have it. You've got your own way. The moaning cheese intolerant shiny toothed brat is off. Long live people power. You've won. It's just a pity that us true racing fans had to lose in the process.
