  2. I don’t know what it is,but there is something that i love about those early yellow 748 SP’s.
If i would not have my 916,that is the one that i would have.

    Henk!!!

  3. Thank you :D

Agree, yellow just looks great out & about - The more time has gone on the more I prefer the completely stock look of the 748sp

  4. Nice find! My first Ducati was a 748SP back when I lived in Australia. It was a development bike owned by Vee Two Engineering and had one of their first 955cc stroker kits. I miss it...

  6. Thanks for chiming in, Steve.

@cookster I haven't lived in Australia in almost 18 years now (time flies!) so I'm a bit out of the loop.. my parents are still there though.

  8. I'm sure that shifted along! Did it loose that magical top end rush being stroked? always surprised when I ride the 748sp just how rev hungry it is for a V-twin so would be a shame to loose that character from the engine (well for someone coming from a back ground of rev hungry 2 strokes anyway)

    Thanks mate, appreitate it!

The mega one in the diary for this year is an actually RC30! soon as the weather allows I have been offered the chance to ride two - road registered race bike (isle man built bike) and a genuine UK road example, can not wait!

  9. Jealous!

There's a lot of discussion about the sound of bikes. I've never heard (or seen) an RC30 in person, but it may well be most amazing sound ever, if its simply more of the same Nc30 note,

  10. It was my first big bike, and the first Ducati I'd owned.. so I didn't really have anything to compare it to. I think it still had the stock 748 gearing as well, so it definitely got off the line well!

  11. I've never owned one, but to have never seen or heard an RC30 is a great misfortune. i wanted one before I wanted a 916!
I think the first time I saw and heard one was at Mallory Park with Brian Morrison on it.
In '95 I went to the TT for the first time (on my first Ducati) and RC30s were everywhere!
I also remember seeing one in race trim on the way to Cadwell in the back of a pickup truck - typical racer all the money spent on the bike.
Sorry I've wandered off the thread here - I have never ridden a 748 either, although the 916SPS does have the 748 close ratio gearbox rather than the std 916/996 one and with two or three teeth extra on the rear sprocket it does feel quite revvy compared to my old Biposto.
