Any chance of a brief summary? Don't want to stir the sh*te,and while not normally a big fan of the filth,I can't complain at all about their,(Bedfordshire's) handling of our recent misfortune. I'd just like to know what allegedly occurred So,do tell, just a short synopsis will do,(or point me at the relevant thread)

Nah it was my Daytona I could pulled on. But since you mention it, I got pulled by an unmarked bike when out on the Desmo for having no number plate. The damn thing fell off. But he was reasonable. Let me carry on and accepted my explanation. Good bloke. Are you doing Brands on Monday, since its cheaper now?
so, based on the above, the OP should really have grounds to (a) complain, and (b) get any fines, penalty points, etc revoked, or am I reading your subtle hints wrong, Andy?
over here in n Ireland two motorcyclists were stopped by unmarked police , the officer checked the bikes and then proceeded to ticket one for an illegal number plate,as he was doing so one of the bikers informed the officer that the plate on his car was also illegal whereupon the officer thanked him for pointing this out and it would be replaced when he returned to base. sooooo if he was ticketing you then at least he should also have ticketed himself ????
So what is the purpose of clause 4, and specifically it's sub section (a)? If only clause 1 is law, then why have clause 4 to conditionally modify clause 1?
Why do we have an obsession in this country about subversiveness with number plates and tax discs, I am going to sound old and boring, but is it really that difficult to display a tax disc normally and have a regular sized number plate? Ive just come back from German and Holland, they make it really simple, the plates are pressed aluminum, so what you get given is what you have to display, you can't modify them or cut them down or use a silly font, the biggest mistake the DVLA have made is to make acrylic plates the regulation, it has opened up a huge market in cut down plates, italic fonts, mis spacing, you only have to look on on an average journey at the cars and bikes around you and the situation is completely out of control.
I think you get a lesser fine for leaving your number plate off, than you do fitting a "display" one.
Am I right in thinking the plate goes with the Owner?.You never see a used car for sale over there with plates, and I had to get transit plates to bring a motor back here that has been German registered...*shrug*... Also, the plates have a little clock stamped in them,I assume thats when it passed their version of the MOT,isn't it? I could be wrong,if so,I'd like to be corrected...
I'm sure you are right Lightening, but its the unregulated manufacture of plates which is the problem. Although you are supposed to produce documents to get a plate made we all know they can be made on line with no checks to basically any design.
