Strange Day Today..

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by Nathanhu, Sep 1, 2021.

  1. Maybe you could write something to be read at the service if you’re unable to attend?

  2. Thats a great idea :grinning:

  3. I lost my very best friend 45 years ago. There's not a single day goes by, without him popping into my head to say hello. I've always known Kev would say "Yeah..go for it. Life's too short" (irony not lost) when I consider things we would have done together. By all means grieve.....but then get on and live your life ...... plus a little bit for him too.

  5. I lost my best mate in a bike accident in 2009, so sort of know what your going through. I say sort of because at least i was able to pay my respects at the funeral

  6. Sorry to read this Nathanhu, although I know just "sorry" doesn't cut it. I hope the Forum words in the thread helped a bit.

  7. Thank you all for the Kind words and support,

I didn't post to gain Likes etc, but as more a de-compress with those that might understand more than say non-biking friends/family.
    thank you all

  8. Don't expect to fully 'de-compress' yet. I too worked extended periods in China (and other far flung places). I'm not known to show my emotions, but on the 13+hr flight home they seemed to come to the surface. Don't be embarrassed if there's tears. It's normal.

  9. We know you didn’t ask for likes so don’t you worry about that.
It’s great that you felt able to post to us all so that we can support you in any way and that’s including likes and our stories and know your not alone :)

  10. What an awful situation to have to deal with, on numerous fronts, not least your concerns about not being able to attend the funeral of your good pal.
Perhaps as someone else suggested, ask his family if a note from you as his riding buddy, might be able to be read out on your behalf.
That might go some way to alleviating the potential current, associated completely unwarranted guilt, for not being present and it would also re-affirm your friendship.
An incredibly sad and undoubtedly hugely difficult thing to have to deal with.
RIP to your pal and condolences to everyone involved.

  11. Sorry for your loss. Remember the good times :upyeah:

  12. I was able to log into a link the funeral director gave for my uncles funeral back in May
    I couldn’t attend because I was shielding
It was as good as being there and at the time could sing away at home

  13. Fair old thread this. Had me thinking.

Condolences op, I know the feeling.

I lost a real good pal in a bike accident 20 odd years ago. I've never forgotten him and still chuckle at the memories.

Times a great healer but your pals never really leave you.... They're there, in your mind, call up the fun time memories and smile to yourself.

    Chin up. It'll get easier.

  17. Going through something similar at the moment, funeral has not taken place yet.
You are right, it is strange, but it is also motivating me to get on with things - while I still can.

    All the best.
