Streetfighter V2

Discussion in 'Streetfighter' started by Snips, Sep 27, 2021.

  1. The seat cowl is the same fitment as the V2 Panigale, I believe, but... the Panigale one has white / silver DUCATI logo, whereas the SF V2 has black lettering on tank. My SF V2 specific seat cowl has no decal, which might be the way they're going to share the part no.

Not sure if the tail tidy is the same. Check Evotech Performance sire, see if they use same part number.

Bottom line is that the rear at least is more likely to share parts with V2 Panigale than V4 SF.

  2. Too late. Weather never was all that nice and I didn't snap any photos. Put just at 100 miles on it though with a short break for an overpriced chocolate croissant, which was still worth the cost. But then i like chocolate like some people like coffee so I'm biased.

I think the bike is going to work out great but I'll be quite happy to get the break-in done and not have to shift at 6000rpm... I'll post a more verbose review later but for now I need to take a nap. The wondermutt is away with my wife so I have the place to myself... need to take advantage of that.

  3. The tail tidy has the same part number for the V2 and V4 Streetfighter - haven't looked at the other parts; you can find them on the configurator.

  4. I finally got chance to ask about this 'damper' when my bike was in for its first service today.

There is no damper wotsit. Apparently when they had my bike apart to fit the front LED indicators, they "saw something was missing" (read: "they broke something", I suspect ;)) so had to order a replacement, and that was the reason for the 1 day delay in my collecting the bike.

  6. Interesting! It's hard to tell just by looking at photos, but how easy is it to swap out the indicators? I was planning on fitting the front LED's myself (if my bike ever arrives) I'm hoping that bracket they're attached to is user friendly and doesn't require any pissing around with the fork clamps etc.

  7. Just been out for a razz on mine, first proper ride after first service, now up to 800+ miles, so still not wringing it out, but going up to about 8K revs now.

I thought my Street Triple was confidence inspiring, but this bike really feels another level, I am loving it.

  8. My dealer is brining mine over on Tuesday evening, so I’m looking forward to getting out on it this week.

  9. I’m new here and looking at the SFV2.
Not blagged a demo yet but seems the bike has intrusive vibes ,such as reported here by TMF

What are you owners finding so far ? Ta.

  10. Welcome!

I only found vibes to be noticeable during running in, when I had to keep revs below 6K, but they get smoothed out now I can generally run at higher revs. I doubt TMF was sticking below 6K rpm though (UPDATE: I watched, and he is around 4K when commenting, too low imo. I use 2nd gear in 30mph zones, and 3rd gear in 40s)

That said, it's a big twin, and some vibes relative to an inline 4 or whatever is to be expected, and is explained away as 'character' ;)

It's a fab bike, do it.

  11. I agree with Snips. I have done 1400 miles now.
It's a 955 twin. It vibrates a bit at 20 mph in town. For example if you go round at roundabout at 20mph in 2nd gear as you exit it will vibrate. At one point TMF had it in 5th at 40mph! It will definitely vibrate if you do that.

No idea what he was saying about the seat. It's comfy and I have not noticed any vibes.

Compared to my old 848sf it in a different league for smoothness.

I rode back to back on my mate v4s panigale last night. His was smoother in town but above 35mph no real difference in vibration.

You need to rev this engine. 6-10k is where it's sweet.

  12. Ok, thanks guys.

  13. My Ducati Supersport had a few vibes, as did my other V Twin from a few years ago (Suzuki SV1000) The vibes are minor and only noticeable if you usually ride an inline 4. You'll only notice them on your first couple of rides.

  14. I think there are two sets of vibrations at play here, the sort that are coming through the engine, the sort of 'buzz' that you get with a big twin, I have to say my V2 was worse than my 899 though tbh in that regard, but mainly during running in, after first service I didn't notice it as bad.

The other vibration is where the dash etc is rattling over bumps and stuff, that would annoy me tbh, it's not the biggest dash anyway and I would struggle to see it if it's vibrating around.

  15. Admittedly I've only had a couple of hours test ride on the V2 but I can't say the vibrations were any worse that any of my previous (or current) Ducatis, in fact, I was quite surprised by how smooth it was...but it's all relative!

  16. First proper ride today. 242 miles. What. A. Machine.

It’s been an emotional and painful day tbh. At one point I thought why the hell have I bought this, and was in complete agony with my back, but once my body dialled in to the bike, I really got into it. Scalpel like handling, more than enough power for the roads, light, flickable, this bike is a doddle to ride. I love it. The quickshifter is fantastic in all gears. No vibrations that I noticed. Yes, you have to work the gears a bit, but once you get into it, this bike just makes me grin from ear to ear.

I had a BMW S1000R a few years ago, and that never made me feel the way this bike does. I can’t wait to get back out on it again, it’s really that good.

  17. How did you go from being in agony to enjoying the bike ?

  18. I think my body just adapted. Once on the open road, with no traffic, everything just fell into place. How I’ll feel tomorrow morning is another matter!
