Streetfighter V2

  1. 1000km service this week. The shop use Motul, so I presume I'll go for the 7100. What's everyone else using?

    iang27 - re the tail tidy, I have the same issue down here in NZ, but no point sending you a pic as our plates are a completely different size & shape. I went for 1 spacer, which partially obscures the indicators, but not too badly. I agree, 2 spacers looks a bit crap.
     
  2. Corporately, Ducati have gone back to recommending Shell. I suspect that this a simple case of economics not of one oil being better than another. My preference is for Motul 7100, it's a very good oil and it meets the required standards to maintain your warranty. Andy

  3. My mate just had his V2 serviced and he noticed on the invoice that they used Motul Semi Synthetic oil. He rang the dealer as he said it stated the oil should be fully synthetic but the dealer said it is too expensive and would increase the cost of the service.
    Personally I thought this was bullshit, my bikes have always had fully synthetic when I have had them serviced.
    Unless things have changed ?

  6. Have to say I’m surprised. Being an authorised dealer, I would have thought they should be toeing the corporate line. If you have insomnia one evening, this, https://comparemotoroils.com/motul-7100-4t-vs-motul-5000-4t/, is dry stuff but has a few interesting bits of information. Motul 5000 is better for catalytic converters and its viscosity is more stable at high temperatures than 7100 but isn’t as kind to the engine and needs to be changed more often that 7100. If your mate is doing the sort of mileage I do (9,000/yr), then I’d do an intermediate oil change with 5000 but if not, I don’t think it matters much at all. Andy

  8. Anyone wired up a GPS or Radar etc to their Streetfighter yet? I had my shop do my radar, but they said there was no auxiliary port to wire it to & Ducati state it will possibly throw codes or void the warranty if you try to slice into the system etc. So...they wired it directly to the battery, and even though I've turned the radar off after riding, it still flattened the battery. I presume I need to disconnect the plug completely to avoid this, which is ridiculous. Any thoughts? I thought you could go directly to the ignition via an auxiliary port up behind the tacho or the headlight somewhere?
     
  9. My dealer wired my Garmin in to the ignition, no issues at all

  10. That doesn't surprise me! I hate the workshop at my local dealership and I've had run ins with them in the past. I haven't even bothered contacting them this time, cause I'm sick of being 'that guy'. They've also overfilled the bike with oil, which isn't the first time this has happened either.

    Do you know if was an auxiliary port they connected your Garmin up to, or was it bit trickier than that?
     
  11. Yeah, you need a good dealer. I’m pretty sure they wired it in to the aux port, but can check when I speak to them next, if you want.

  12. Quick question, is the rear seat unit/fairing easy to remove?

I had a dual USB (Oxford) fitted by my dealership - they were initially reluctant to wire it into a switched feed but they relented, particularly as it is illuminated so would have been a drain, albeit small, on the battery. I'm sure there are 'spare' feeds available, especially if you haven't had all the electrical accessories installed.

  15. Took mine off and fitted the rear seat cowl. Quick & easy!
     
  16. I found with a 9x7 plate it looked like yours. Fine with the 7x5.5
    Fitted both spacers and it is fine so there will be no issues come mot time.

  17. Excuse my ignorance but the spacers you refer to are on the indicators to extend them? Would they be a separate purchase?

  19. The Evotech tail tidy comes with the extra spacers, so no, not a separate purchase.
