On the verge of buying a V2 with Akrapovic race exhaust and all the bits you would want to put on it , it's done 700 miles so is a used bike but I'm having second thoughts mainly due to the quality of the bike (switch gear, paint finish, brakes and suspension) - I had a SF V4S which I did 6k miles on but is a bit pointless on the road I will be the first to admit it. I currently have a Diavel 1260s with Termi and is the best sounding bike in the world and I'm having a hard time thinking about letting it go but is coming up to the desmo service and Ive done 7k miles since May this year so to make sure I don't loose too much I'm on the verge of trading it in for the V2 can anyone reassure me I'm making a good decision I need to get about 150 miles a tank, it's got to have a smooth QS and pop and bang on the shifts and generally have some vibration (soul)
Hi Mark, I've had my V2 for about 16 months now and done around 6500kms, all weekend rides on twisty roads etc. I've never really understood the paint issues. My bike is red and the paint still looks like new, although I do polish and look after it. I had a 2017 Supersport before this, with the same red paint and it looked great when I sold it after 5 years of use, so forget the paint issues! Re the suspension, the bike is definitely stiffer than the Supersport, but it turns on a dime and handles great. The front forks are fine, it's the rear shock that probably needs a bit of attention. I had a suspension guy look at mine and surprisingly, he said the rear spring was too light for my weight (I'm around 90kgs). I'm guessing a heavier spring would allow for less punishing damping settings, but I haven't bothered with this as yet cause the suspension isn't a major issue for me. A new spring isn't expensive, so definitely nothing to worry about. The gearbox & quickshifter are perfect in my opinion. Best I've had! Re fuel, yes you'll get your 150 miles (240km's) a tank. I've never pushed the limit with this, but I know I've been close to it, maybe 230kms, and made it to the gas station with no issue, although I was getting pretty low I think. The brakes are great. Maybe some would say harder front pads are better for track days, but I haven't done a track day on it so I can't comment. I think the brakes are perfect for spirited road use. The front has more stopping power than the Supersport did, so no issue for me. Yep you'll get some vibration and some popping etc. I have the arrow system on mine with a Brentune installed. The bike sounds great.
I love my SF V2, done 2,500 miles. I would be concerned for paint (no lacquer) so had mine PPF'd from new. The bike does have character, and I enjoy being able to make full use of rev range on the road without getting too silly. Akras would definitely help with character. I've not measured it but feel like range is more like 120 miles - but I'll defer to someone who has measured it. It's a great bike, but imagine it might feel small compared to a V4 / Diavel.
The deal is done and I get the V2 Streetfighter tomorrow With all the extras fitted to this particular bike it would cost £22k so I feel I'm getting a good deal I will need to get a set of dB killers for the Akrapovic cans as I don't think they have any - anyone know where to get a set? I will want to get a set of bar end mirrors so I'm looking at Rizoma at the moment If anyone has any parts for sale then let me know
Here's m I have Rizoma mirrors on mine and they're great quality, don't move or vibrate etc. You can see them (sort of) in a pic of my bike on page 29.
I was looking at rizoma stealth mirrors for my V2 I don't like bar end ones as I've clipped them in the past when filtering..
I’ve got LSL gonia bar end mirrors fitted to my V4 as I think they suit the bike. Don’t stick out too much either
Here is a couple of pics - not ridden it yet as its raining here - maybe Saturday I can take it out for a blast
Same combo I used to have. Two completely different bikes, the PP is the ultimate go anywhere bike, you’ll have to choose your roads more carefully on the V2, but it’s an awesome bit of kit.
Anyone else frustrated with the lack of choices re our 180/60 rear tire? I thought the Rosso 4's were excellent during summer but average on cold roads during our winter here in NZ. I wanted to go to the Rosso 4 Corsa next, but they were a ridiculous price so I settled for the Bridgestone S22's. This tire has been great; way better than I expected, so I was looking forward to trying the new S23 when they arrive, but apparently they won't be available in the 180/60. So I guess that leaves me with only Metzeler. I've run those in the past with good results, so fingers crossed. Dunlop are hard to get down here for some reason. Probably my favorite tire to date was the Michelin Power GP's that I ran on my Supersport, but they don't come in a 60 either.
Just run 160/55's where there's a lot more choice, it's what I did on the 899 and had no issues. I don't know if you can do a tyre learning program on the V2 like you can on the V4 but I previously had no issues so hopefully it's the same with the newer bikes.
Well, I finally bit the bullet and collected my ex-demo SFV2 last week. Was hooked since I test rode one and with the news they were not going to be going forward with the model I had to go for it. Wanted the 848 a few years ago but missed out when they stopped that one too No real mods as yet but have fitted the EP radiator guards. Weather and worm hasn't been conducive to getting it out and about this week but will post a photo or two when I do. Though a stock red will be no surprise to most looking on here.
Hi all, need help. I've recently had an issue with movement in one of the rear shock linkages. (see attached pic) It's the big one that the arrow is pointing to. The bike shop has just replaced the bush and there's still movement. If anyone has an abba stand or similar that takes all the weight off the rear wheel & shock, could you please check and see if there's any movement in yours. When the bike's up on the stand I stand behind the rear wheel and just gently lift the wheel up and down a bit and I can hear and feel the movement in the linkage. I doubt you'll be able to feel it with a stand that doesn't take all the weight off.
I imagine in reality it's just the tolerancing. There will be room around each of the bolts that secure it, around the bushings, and also for the spherical bearing, so it'll add up to a little movement. If it's not there when the linkage is loaded and they've replaced the bushings then I wouldn't worry too much about it.
Can now confirm it is 'normal' after checking a brand new one on the shop floor. They replaced mine because they thought the movement was over & above the factory tolerances. You can actually hear a knocking noise if you get it in the right spot with no weight on the wheel. I've owned plenty of bikes, including another Ducati, but never seen this before. Anyway, with this bike, all appears normal.
