im insured with mce and wrote off my 1098 at start of year. mce paid out within a month of accident and offered a very good valuation. not a problem with them. so i re insured with them.
idrinkbeer, you had a good experience with MCE!!!!! Unbelievable! They score 1.4 out of 5 on the review site and with good reason. How much did your insurance go up by? I have been shafted by them BIG TIME! Got a quote, printed it out, even rang and spoke to them 3 times to confirm it. Gave them the reg number and advised them I was buying the bike based on their quotation. Rang them the night before I was collecting the paid for bike and my quote went from £369 to £613! I spent 3 hours on the phone with them and they refused to honour the quotation which i had in black and white. I threatened them with the ombudsman and they could not care less. Bunch of cowboys.
Thanks for the replies, Tesco compare are the cheapest so far using Just Bikes, which seems to be underwritten by Carole Nash. £148.80, a fair sum as it was more than that last year. I might still keep hunting though as it seems very variable on the comparison sites.
Just done mine, Letter from MCE telling me my insurance is due for renewal but no quote, so onto Moneysupermarket and get quote for MCE of £134 then I ring MCE direct and they quote £148 and suggest I go through MS as they cant compete ( strange I thought ) so onto Top Cashback then moneysupermarket, now the quote comes up at £129 with 8% cashback. Job done for another year. Steve
Motorcycle direct try and shaft you £50 quid for any admin changes, changing from a ducati 748 to a honda transalp same value just cost me £25 in extra premium charge plus £35 admin fee. after complaining about the £50 admin fee they dropped it to the £35. £60 quid extra to pay overall! On tpf&t for a 55bhp transalp! personally would give them a wide berth in future. My other bike is insured under carole nash, i got a pretty much full refund on my previous policy (bmw) when swapping to a multistrada as the bmw was on a classic bike policy, they were very good.
I just did a quick comparison on Moneysupermarket just now for the 848 Corse I have ordered... With mods added - a set of cans and a chip... I got only 2 quotes back, one at £900, one at £9500!! I removed the mods and got 27 quotes between £350 and £800. What's that about?! Guess when the time comes I'll need to shop around then phone a few decent brokers as the mods seem to confuse the cookie cutter comparison sites.
