Summer Hols - Anything Planned ?

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by Mattie821, Apr 29, 2023.

  1. You could break it up a little, Kielder Forest Northumberland Lake District or if you’re desperate Yorkshire Dales before Sc0tchland split whichever way you prefer.

  2. I think ive left it a bit too late to do a dot to dot as its hard getting three dogs into anywhere at the best of times and i WILL NEVER be forced to camp (in the words of uncle monty) .
I imagine it will either be the peaks or we enjoy Barmouth on the south coast (another shit drive though for me).

  3. Yep, I’ve done those a few years ago. Will dig out my pictures and form a sort of plan!

  4. …and the road Lac de Castillon D955 is a corker. Worth timing it to miss busy times and you will be to the edge of the tyres within two corners.

edit, just realised that my avatar picture was in 2008, taken somewhere on the south side of the Verdon Gorge!

  5. And this one another year on the R1. North side of the gorge, just up from Lac le Croix! 3247960A-32A7-45C6-B163-193E38255A9B.jpeg

  6. I get that feeling as well, wetness abounds. Probably give it a miss. Been to Assen twice and it rained both times as well.

    Agreed.
Le Cassoulet - le Ravioli - cold out of the tin :Dand poulet roti - ( we ate one in the supermarket car park ) :D

Just a look at the Meteo to see where the sunshine is and the rain isn't !!

    Wow.
    :D

  7. The doggies will be gutted, another holiday not in Sc0tchland, I hate camping too but have done it off and on.

Has Barmouth moved? It can be nice but I avoid it, although it’s very popular with those from the West Midlands.

  8. Be very legal in Switzerland! Their punishments for speeding are both extremely expensive through to OMG 1 year in prison!

  9. Just bought this year my first Ducati (Panigale V2) having got my full license in Jan 2022

last year was the Austrian alps with my son chasing his V4S on my Honda CBR650R.

this June we’re off to Norther Italy (hiring a van to take two bikes there) him on his Panigale V4SP2 and me failing to keep up on my Panigale V2!

2 weeks off and planning to Include WSBK Misano too!

    it’s going to be Mint!

Plan for 2024 is fly down to Bologna for a factory tour followed by World Ducati Week as a treat!

Both going to be amazing trips!

first Ducati only track day at Donnigton next month too!

  10. Bah... You've got a Mini now, the drive shouldn't be a deterrent. Think of the furry fellows -pack your tent into the van & get going! LOL

  11. Bloody fantastic mountain roads and passes. But I will never go back.
In fact, I have a trip starting in Austria this June. My plan is to head North through France, then East via Germany. Adding on a substantial 1 hour plus.
Also, if using the motorways. Pay for a year, as there is no visitor pass, January to January I think. Austria? 10 day permit is available. More friendly? Ja, und das ist gut, ja?

  12. That rock looks familiar... :D

A little damp when we were there last year, impressive scenery all the same.

  17. Hotels seem to be very expensive as well. I did see that episode of 44 Teeth when Chris was fined thousands for speeding !

Good idea to rent a van to do the motorway miles, rather than wearing out the bike. You have got lots to look forward to there for sure. Look forward to seeing some pics on this forum ....

I will leave Switzerland through the Southern part of the country into Italy - been that way before. Glorious place in the summer sunshine - shame for you to miss out on it.

The Swiss seem very efficient at collecting the road tax as you enter the country - Austria I had to find a petrol station that sold the tax stickers. But yes you are right I think I bought a two month one for Austria but had to get the full year for Switzerland.

You probably know where you are going better than me. Anyway
Bardenas Reales National park could be within range ? - Bridgestone did a tyre launch in the area - 44 Teeth link you might find useful:

  19. The pictures do look good - a few adjustments in Lightroom just brings out the best of them.

I have an S22 as well, and Lightroom Classic. Also take the Panasonic G9 for any landscape shots that might be printed. One day hope to not have to bother with it and just use the phone.

Thought about getting the iPhone 14 Pro Max or the new S23, but decided to hang on to the excellent S22 for now. :upyeah:
