I'd imagine the oil in the sump would suck away the heat intensity.

I know the horse has bolted and all that but when I had a 999/1098 I'd renew the sump plug quite regularly. You do get a 'rounding off' feel before the dreaded fail. But I'm talking track bikes so regular oil changes.
