Supersport S - Any Good?

Discussion in 'Supersport (2016 onwards)' started by PerryL, Oct 27, 2020.

  1. II think that the frame looks OK. Is that pipe a Ducati accessory that you got the dealer to fit, or did you do it yourself? Did you need to remap the engine control chip?

  2. Had mine now for 3 years.
Very comfortable, more so than my ST3s.
Sporty feel and look, to the point that i ride it with the lads more than the 916.

  3. I bought the Termignoni pipe via the Ducati dealer who fitted it for free. I did look at the instructions but it did seem to involve a lot of crawling about the garage floor which I am now far to old for. You really do notice the 5.5 kg weight reduction. Termignoni do supply a custom map for the pipe which the dealer installed.

  4. I also fitted the Termi to mine the first week that it became available. I don't feel the weight difference as it is only the same as a few litres of fuel and is very low down. Never bothered nor felt the need for the custom map.

  5. That is what I would be coming from. Interesting that you find it more comfortable that the ST3.

  6. Also interested in that, what height are you?

  7. My Carole is 5’5” and about 9 stone something in leathers. MR wound all but 5mm off the rear shock pre load and I sourced a low seat for her test ride. She was solid balls of the feet but a bit off flat footing and felt confident she could hold the weight of the bike stationary, if that helps. Andy

  8. 6ft on a good day , shrinking as I get older..
The ST is harder on the neck and wrist compared to the SS. But is still the favourite of the two.
I've also added the Termi/upmap / air filter/ 14 tooth sprocket. The old exhaust is like an elephant compared to the Termi.

  9. I like the white bike

  10. I wish they'd clearcoat / lacquer the red Supersport (along with the non-top of the range bikes across the range).

My 959 Corse has clearcoat matt lacquer, and so does the white Supersport, I believe.

  11. Thought they were clear coated? Mines shiney? But it has had a ceramic coating?

  12. Nope, sadly not. Run your fingertips over the Ducati decal on the tank. On a V4 or high end Monster it's under lacquer. On a lower end Monster, 959, or Supersport, it's not, and the paint is much more vulnerable as a consequence.

The matt effect on white bikes is achieved with a lacquer, so slightly better, but the decals are still not coated.

They don't have lacquer as supposedly as a cost saving measure, though these are still hardly cheap bikes, and other bike manufacturers manage it, and look at the bodywork area of cars in comparison.

  15. Glad I had a ceramic coating then. Didn’t think cheap and Italian were words used in the same sentence?

  16. Love my SupersportS, though you may want to at least consider something from Triumph, I find my ThruxtonR much easier to just jump on & ride, if a little slower and heavier...

  17. The Supersport S is now my No. 1 choice - with Ducati hard panniers. I am tempted by the Akrapovic exhaust, just because it looks nicer than the standard. Did you fit that or was it dealer done? I presume that you needed a new fuel map?

  18. The panniers won't fit with the Akrapovic. I use the panniers but have a Termi exhaust.

  19. I think oem panniers will fit with the slip-on Akra’s but not the full high level system.
