I would buy a litre sportsbike (I certainly would have taken the R1 that was offered), but the reality is that I'm a fat kid who doesn't fit sportsbikes very well, and my license is in tatters already. I have no self-control software, y'see. So I'm deliberately not looking at big sportsbikes. The type of bikes that appeal to me are light. flickable bikes I can attack B-roads on where there are fewer old bill about, or bikes with an excess of torque that can make me giggle at sub-banning speeds. I'm not planning any tours for a couple of years, so I don't need a big fairing or comfy seat (hence why the Triumph is going, it never tickled my funny gland anyway). The bikes that appeal to me at the moment - Hyper, Superduke, Husky 900 - are way out of my price range, and the big jap nakeds just don't appeal to me at all, they're all far too heavy for what they are. And while I would probably enjoy an 'adventure' bike, I refuse to buy one cos most of the 'adventure' bike owners I've met are complete knobs. I would buy any Guzzi ever made, though, for reasons unknown to me I bloody love them. The GSR is appealing to me for several reasons. Firstly it's cheap and I'll get a stack of cash to play with, secondly it's light and easy to lob about, thirdly it's a new thing to try out - I've never owned a 600 and I've a feeling I'll enjoy thrashing the tits out of a bike after years of big twins and triples. At some point in my life I will own a Harley, I don't want to but I know it will happen, I'm just trying to put it off for as long as possible...
a suzuki tl 1000 r is what you need buddy , its one of the best v-twin engines ever made in the entire history of human existance , and not a bad price either , it has eat your heart out ducati torque , and the noise is just to die for , its just a shame the bikes chassis and handling is not up to the job at times
I know a bit about TL's, enough to know that with 9 points on my license, a TL is most definitely NOT what I need. And the S is better, anyway...
You will probably regret going down to a 600, there is constant gear swopping to get anywhere, they run hot, and if you thrash them - like you have to - the running costs are going to be as high. I got the older Sprint ST 955 - I cant fault it and I have had all sorts. I know what my next bike will be and I would suggest you consider it too - a 955i Daytona.
Don't .... the only reason for having a 600 is if engine size is restricted for racing ..... Why would you penalise yourself by getting a smaller engine on your roadbike? They aren't that much lighter and have to be worked so hard compared to their bigger engined variants that they end up using more fuel and wearing out components more quickly.
Had a 955 Sprint. Didn't like it. Don't want a Daytona. In fact, don't want another Triumph, they're not for me. I've said before I'll try anything, but there's no point going back over old ground.
Yep, had a look at a couple of SV's, but it would appear SV owners aren't keen on Triumphs as neither wanted a trade. I'm quite liking the idea of getting a smaller bike for a change.
