SW/Somerset Ducatisti Meet?

Discussion in 'Rideouts & Events' started by theoldbuzzard, Jan 9, 2014.

  1. So ... anyone think they might be up for a meet at the Halfway House between Langport and Somerton on the evening of Tuesday 8th April?

  2. I didn't think that I'ld be able to make next Tuesday but it now looks a possibility. Are you intending to go Dave?

  3. I'm in London that day but was planning on heading over if I get back at a reasonable hour. It might not be till 2100 or 2130 though.

  4. Okey doke Dave, if I can get over on Tuesday I'll text you.

  5. OK. If you can do that during the day I can text you back and tell you what time I can be there.

First drink is on me :)

  6. Tuesday's is good so you may see both of us there.

  7. DD, if I am able to go on Tuesday then it'll be on the bike. If biking also do you fancy meeting up en-route for a pootle down to The Halfway?

  8. OldBuzzard - just realised how my post reads. I am good for Tuesday's in general. Unfortunately this Tuesday 8th April, I can't get back from Portsmouth in time. For the 15th May I hope to be there.

  9. No problem DD, same suggestion applies to the 15th if you are able to make that one.

  10. It'd be rude not too seeing as I only live down the road at Curry Rivel!

Bit confused, is the May meet on Tues 13th or Thurs 15th May, both have been mentioned in previous posts?

  11. Hi neighbour ... I'm in North Curry

  12. Evening Samuri, we have settled on the second Tuesday of each month and so it will be Tuesday 13th May. A couple of us might be heading to The Halfway this Tuesday the 8th if you are around.

  13. Glad you asked because I thought it was Tuesday the 15th :)

  14. Hi Dave,

Yup, should be there this Tuesday, be nice to meet you all. Had a phone call from another guy called Richard I met at Louigi Moto's a few years ago who lives in Barrington, he'll be coming along too on his 750 F1.

Seems there are more Dukes around here than I first thought!

  15. This is a new one on me, might I suggest that a Somerset Ducatisti rideout may be in order?

Moto Corsa and Compton Abbas Airfield who are almost neighbours in the village of Ashmore in Dorset (just over a mile apart) are hosting an Italian Job at the airfield on Sunday 18 May 2014 from 1030.

There will be Italian planes, a few Italian cars, and a lot of Italian bikes. We have invited friends from the MV Agusta Owners Club, Moto Guzzi Owners Club, the International Laverda Owners Club, the Benelli Owners Club, Ducati Owners Club and the Moto Morini Riders Club.

We have asked MV Agusta UK to send along their "test fleet" so in addition to vintage planes and, maybe, acrobatics, there will be the chance to ride some 2014 models.

Compton Abbas also has a highly rated restaurant and you can also experience flights in vintage aircraft so you can have some really good experiences that day.

It is best to pre-book vintage flights directly with the airfield as there is a limit to how many people they can accommodate in their vintage planes.

Moto Corsa will also be hosting demo rides on the Saturday.
Moto Corsa is a South's Farm Yard, Noade Street, Ashmore, nr Shaftesbury (SP5 5AA).

Compton Abbas Airfield is at Ashmore (SP5 5AP)

  16. I might come along to this if I am free?

  17. I rather think that your attendance at the Tuesday meets is considered essential Richard! Be good if you can make the Italian Job also....

  18. Week nights are rather smashed these days, I have a bigger Area to Manage these days. My area is more a region, draw a rough line from Aberystwyth to Banbury, then roughly cut down to Slough, down to Brighton, then follow the South coast to Lands End, and then follow the coast back up where we started.

So if I am out in the week, it will because I am still working, so will be driving in the company car.

The MV is still on the road, taxed and ready to go, the Ducati has no MOT, or tax, and needs a service. I doubt I will do it this year, maybe next year?

  19. We're retired now Rich' so no more of that work tosh, but perhaps you now realise that all of my old "oh, can't make that" weren't just excuses!
Retirement is great but now find myself trying to do everything and then find that I've double booked, thinking that I can do everything....just found that 18th May is just one such occasion. DOH!
